If the UFC were to bring back the nicknames they bestowed upon events in the early days of the promotion, UFC 160 should be named UFC 160: Awesome.
If the UFC wanted to go out with a bang after a turbulent year, they certainly got their wish.
Chael Sonnen, Gray Maynard, Forrest Griffin, Phil Davis and Chris Weidman. It is quite incredible that a UFC card could lose these quality fighters and still be one of the most anticipated in recent memory.
UFC on FX 6 and The Ultimate Fighter 16 finale may not have been chock full of big names but, as often occurs on these cards, some of the promotion’s lesser-knowns took the opportunity to smash the door down on their respective divisions.
If Anderson Silva wants a Super Fight with Georges St-Pierre next year and the mega pay-day that goes along with it, there should be one condition attached: he hands over the UFC Middleweight Championship.
This day’s been coming a long time. Month after month after month, the UFC have been scrambling to find substitute fighters, often at very short notice, in order to keep fights and events alive.
