The Lions ‘senior players’ should be ashamed of the season. The lack of direction and stability in the playing group is worrying. Leppa can only do to much, a lot of competitiveness needs to come from the senior core group.
Leadership the real issue for the Lions
I think you have misunderstood. I am painting the picture of a club that may have let a gem get away from them without perhaps fighting a little bit harder to keep him. Actually I monitored Membrey during the 2014 NEAFL season and he clearly played above that level. I never insuitated the Swans treated him badly, I have only said he is talented and the Swans perhaps should have fought harder to keep him on their list. The Swans may regret losing him, because players like him are hard to find.
Do you Remembrey this guy, Sydney?
It’s taken this long for Australia to acknowledge its flaws on the subcontinent? They needed to change their approach 20 yrs ago.
Smith agrees subcontinent strategies need to change after spin failures
The Australian Cricket team will always be plagued by it’s mediocrity in the subcontinent. To bring in Jon Holland who at the start of last year wasn’t even Victoria’s first choice spinner is utterly ridiculous. Australia do not understand the fundamentals of playing quality spin bowling. In Australia, we play on pitches that cater to bounce and pace and therefore we score 600 no matter the opposition. Our pitch caters and coaches need to cop the brunt of the blame. Will we ever see Australia successful on the sub-continent? No, not until we find a way to combat spin bowling and bring in spinners that suit those conditions
After the Sri Lankan spankin' where to for Australia?
No other club bar probably Hawthorn can bring in so many kids that slot in so easily and have an impact straight away. The development coaches in particular doing such an outstanding job with the kids. The Swans are scary in the midfield and are now building their defence and their older pillars fizzle out of the 22. It is an incredibly club with a winning culture.
The Sydney Swans' evolution is complete, now comes a flag
I think the Lions deserve some help from the AFL. No other AFL club has been more neglected since the rise of the expansion clubs and something has got to give. It is blatantly unfair that GWS, Sydney are able to gain so much talent and the Lions are left floundering. Gil pull your finger out or face losing a proud club that was once the benchmark of the AFL competition.
Lions seeking salary cap concessions
I actually think the Tigers list is well placed, they just need to trade out/delist some dead wood and inject a couple of mature players from other clubs. This season (2016) has been a major learning curve for Hardwick and the club and i’m confident that in 2017 these lesson will bear the fruit of a successful season. Add Yarran, Prestia and a few other injured players into the side and the Tigers will be well set for a tilt next season. Their A-Grade talent is as good as any in the competition. Their youngsters in the second half of the season have got some x-factor about them and they will take the club forward.
Yellow and black bandaids don't fix broken bones
The Giants will not make the Grand Final and will most likely falter under finals pressure. They are at least 1-2 yrs off a flag but in saying that stranger things are happening in the AFL.
Can anyone stop an all-Sydney AFL grand final?
Luke McPharlin was a solid beckman but never really had an offensive impact on the game. That is what sets Rance and McPharlin apart.
Rance taking the competition by storm
My bad haha I must of been listening to him at the time!!
Who your club needs to target this off-season

Who your club needs to target this off-season
As much as I appreciate your opinion Liam, Martin has been responsibly for three of Richmond’s wins this season. As for the first few rounds he was quiet but every star of the game has down patches. Just because Richmond isnt playing finals this season dosen’t mean Martin hasn’t had a major impact on side’s results. You obviously haven’t read the article in depth enough and are just nitpicking. Football is more than just the performance of game day, something you seem to know nothing about. It’s about the off-field as much as the on-field. Your entitiled to your opinion but you obviously know very little about football. If you can provide me evidence that Dusty is not a match winner and a saving grace for 2016 I am all ears
The real Dustin Martin comes to the fore
Paul I did not mention Prestia would fix the club woes. All I have stated is that he would be a significant signing for the club. I also said ‘The club desperately needs to improve its depth and bring in players that are not stop gaps, but genuine quality that will improve the list.’. Prestia is only part of the solution, but would be a major boost to the club, such is his scope for improvement, his age and his willingness to the contest.
Why Richmond must lure Dion Prestia to Tigertown
Without Tippett the Swans don’t look as flexible down forward. Tippett has provided great service around the ground and the Swans desperately need him back ASAP.
Tippett's absence threatens to derail Sydney's flag push
The Bulldogs are following a very similar path to the Hawks and Cats premiership sides and that is why a dynasty is a real possibility. The core group is so young and haven’t even reached their prime. I agree it can’t be called a dynasty until they atleast win a flag but I have said they are building one, not already have one

The Brownlow is by no means set at all. Most Brownlow winners win the medal because there is very little that will poll in their team otherwise. For Danger’s sake, he has Selwood, Motlop, Enright, Caddy & Guthrie that will pinch votes from him. For Dusty and Bontempelli, there the clear standouts at the club in terms of being noticed by the umps and will poll more 3 vote games, despite Richmond’s w/l record Dusty could have 7BOGS from Richmond’s 8 wins to date. I personally believe Martin, Bontempelli & then Dangerfield will make up the top 3 in that order.
The Brownlow is all but set. So who comes second?
