“Hawthorn: Clarkson At The Helm
In 2018 they finished fourth with a 15-7 record. Most predicted a finals finish again this year”
I’m sorry who is this ‘most’ you speak of? On here Hawthorn were expected to be 12th, and on AFL.com.au only 1 person predicted Hawthorn would make the 8
Silver linings for the AFL's most disappointing clubs in 2019
Hawthorn went over to perth and convincingly beat the reigning premiers to kick them out of the top 4, and they barely get a passing mention in the essendon take, jesus josh will you ever acknowledge them
Five talking points from AFL Round 23
Geelong fans might complain, but at least they aren’t GWS, imagine playing a home game against Hawthorn at the MCG in round 17
MCG form matters in the AFL, just not how you think
Because they’re top 4 and we lost to Melbourne and barely beat Carlton? Easy to say it was obvious in hindsight, but you don’t need to sound so arrogant.
Nine talking points from AFL Round 8
Cousins got a week for the exact same thing last week
Ablett cops one-game ban for striking Shiel
Every non-MCG based team: Hey can we have more games at the MCG please?
Geelong: Hey can we never play at the MCG please?
How Geelong gets robbed by the AFL
Ahh yes, the old “we’ll just cheat the salary cap”. Good to see Carlton never change.
Winners and losers from AFL Round 6
Gunston doesn’t even go for it. They new the siren had gone, that’s why it was such an easy mark. Pretty sure it would’ve been spoiled otherwise.
Heartbreak for Carlton as siren narrowly denies Harry McKay winning chance
Except the Hawks are rated about right. They’ve fallen apart late twice against teams when they’ve received multiple critical injuries during the game, so as a team they should be rated higher than they are because they would have won if not for injuries. But they also have that awful injury list, which them pulls them down, to about where they are
'Overrated' Cats will still beat the Hawks on Easter Monday
I mean they’ve been there abouts quite a bit, just never quite made it. Very similar to Fremantle and Port.
Eight talking points from AFL Round 3
What 4? Hawthorn, Geelong, Collingwood, North, Essendon, Bulldogs, Richmond, and Carlton have all won premierships since the AFL began, St Kilda and Melbourne have both made grand finals, how else do you judge AFL standard?
Eight talking points from AFL Round 3
Good teams do lose from 30 point up when:
1) the teams are nearly evenly matched but then they get 2 injuries
2) the other teams got the scoring end
3) the other team is known to be able to quickly score a bunch of goals if they can win it out of the middle, which they now can because of the said injuries
Ten talking points from AFL Round 2
I’d be angry too if
A) the bulldogs player aggressed and then got the free
B) the umpire called play on until the ball rolled through for a point, and then decide it was a free
James Sicily loses his cool twice in last five minutes
If this was the other way around the title would be something along the lines of “Hawthorn scum snipes bulldogs player and still get the free”
Somehow Bulldog wins 'new free kick' out of scuffle with Hawk
It’s pretty easy to kick goals when the opposition loses 2 of its most reliable players for the entire last quarter.
Add in the 2 goals from *very* questionable frees, and suddenly the last quarter isn’t nearly as impressive.
The dogs got the scoring end when Hawthorn were at their weakest, and with a bit of help ran over the top, nothing else to it.
Ten talking points from AFL Round 2
Get used to it, these have never been Hawthorn friendly
Eight talking points from AFL Round 1
My 23 crazy, fearless predictions for the 2019 AFL season
Hawthorn looked a class below in finals, but they played Richmond and Melbourne, 1 & 2 on most peoples form ladder at the time. They also looked a class above nearly every team below them and had a biggest losing margin of 15 against top 8 teams in the regular season.
The Roar's 2019 AFL ladder prediction - as voted by you!
Imagine seeing someone making a perfect reasonable comment, and taking the chance to have a cry because your team didn’t make the grand final
It’s time to let go of the 'honourable loss'
Always feels like you have something against Hawthorn Cam, and while 12th isn’t unreasonable for them without Mitchell, a lot of your reasoning feels… spiteful.
Breust was the best small forward in the league last year, yet you write him off like he’s never been more than a bit player. Gunston combined with him for the highest scoring forward duo in the comp, there’s no way the go from that to useless over one off season.
And you blame the draw for the top 4 spot, specifically mentioning Brisbane and North, but ignore that they beat Melbourne (your 4th best team presumably) by 67 points, and Essendon at the height of their powers. You can say whatever you want, but at the end of Home and Away Hawthorn were definitely one of the best teams in the league.

So I’m tryna comment on the Hawthorn list management thing and it keeps saying comments are disabled.

The Roar’s AFL expert tips and predictions: Preliminary finals
Look there’s not much to say here other than they had the 13th best percentage last year and the only improvement coming is Daniher at “mid year”, given Essendons record with when they’ve said he’ll be back I’d be surprised if he even played reduced time in a vfl game.
Making finals shouldn’t be expected for Essendon, let alone beating the team in 5th
