Any chance Geelong have thrown this match for what is some convoluted deal with the Crows that allows them free passage through to the finals in exchange for Patrick Dangerfield next season?

Alipate Carlile has been a pretty massive out too, but its been good to see players like Hombsch really step up in his absence.

Clear penalty, Navas got nothing on that ball.

I loved it, I think it adds salt to the game. He’s in battle, so why not act to intimidate the opposition (be it players or supporters).

I’m a Port Adelaide fan, but am happy to recognise the champion that Adam Goodes is and all that he’s contributed to AFL footy on and off the field.

Please, tell me how Adam Goodes offended you?

I know the word redonkulous gets thrown around a bit too much these days, but that knock from de Villiers WAS redonkulous!

Very well said, Patrick.

Pull through well, Phil!

Get well soon Phil, sport just doesn't matter right now

I was at the game last night and the atmosphere was incredible and the facilities at the ground are second to none; definitely worth a weekend away ;). But you’re right, the commentators do carry on and should spend more time focussed on the footy.

Hawks win completes Port's rise from the ashes

I was only discussing with a friend the other day what Burgess might be on. $450,000! There you go. Fitness and recruitings where the moneys at.

Hawks win completes Port's rise from the ashes

Port are currently a very good team. They play at a magnificent ground with tremendous support. They will play finals this year. With their squad being so young I’m hesitant to suggest that they’re currently a premiership contender, though if they continue winning through the regular season and amass some good away wins then they will certainly set themselves up with a shot. Still for me its the experience factor…
Just on Travis Boak – I thought Geelong went after him and he chose to stay at Port Adelaide!

You hit the nail on the head at the end there – the best teams will more than likely come out on top no matter of the route they have to take.

What can be done about the AFL's compromised draw?

Fair question. I’ve checked it out and it looks as though I took flight JQ766 to Adelaide on 02/08/12 with the GWS game being played 04/08/12, so I guess I wasn’t there for that one. If I had been though I think I could have literally been the 19th man!

The joy has returned for Power fans

Thanks Gyfox and good on you!

For me the term ‘bandwagon’ shouldn’t get anyone too upset, as at the end of the day more support is only going to benefit the club. Every team in any sport will have it’s fair-weather fans, but I think credit needs also to be given to the PAFC management and marketing teams as well as the shift to Adelaide Oval as these things have made the club a more accessible brand to a much wider audience.

The joy has returned for Power fans

Personally I’d love to see Drogba playing in the Aleague, but there still seems to be a lot of interest in him from other leagues, which I suppose could keep him away. Forlan and Pirlo too would be wonderful additions. In fact, can’t we just have them all?!

Who is the A-League's next Del Piero?

That is I mean 200 MILLION pound!!!

A Fulham fan's relegation heartache

Ha, thanks for the warm greetings! I think it may be a case of ‘Shahid Khan presents’ on the front of the jumpers. For all the moaning I’ve done here, at least I didn’t drop 200 pound on the club.

A Fulham fan's relegation heartache

2013 saw the Demons concede on average 122.3 points per game, this year so far the average sits at 78.6. These stats point to massive improvement and as long as they can keep it up, will remain competitive for the rest of 2014.

The Demons deserve more credit

I love the optimism! Who wouldn’t want to see the ‘Roos cause an upset or two? And we’ll all have a blast as we cheer them on against the world’s best.

I was lucky enough to see Australia take on the Dutch in Sydney back in 2009, a game that ended in a 0-0 draw. But a few months later they were destroyed 4-0 at the hands of Germany and the Netherlands went on to place runner up at the tournament.

What an amazing feat for Australia to be there again and absolutely we should hope for the best, but I remain pessimistic about their chances. Sorry.

Why I'm optimistic about the Socceroos' World Cup chances

Thanks for your comments guys. My point was this – Adelaide’s home crowd on Thursday night (whatever you want to label it) was fantastic and I believe it went a long way to getting the Crows over the line, but it had nothing to do with the time, resources and effort spent by the Adelaide Football Club in it’s attempts to manufacture ‘The 19th Man’. In my opinion a club should not think it can train it’s members to passionately engage in it’s match day support as this is born of passion and spontaneity. If the club presents a playing group that do their best to win for their club then the passionate, raucous support should naturally follow. In the case of the Power’s ‘March from the Mall’ practice, I suggest this was simply an exercise to iron out any possible logistical issues.

Adelaide's '19th Man' a flop
