The biggest flop of the night was the Brisbane crowd – stadium half full and next to no atmosphere. Likewise at the Gabba , if it was not for the Barmy Army it would of played even more embarrassing .

Apart from SOO Queenslanders simply don’t show up – would move future games to Melbourne and let the Victorians enjoy our teams with pride.

Hayne flops, Holmes flies as Australia make World Cup final

Moore has bilghted his career and legacy by hanging around 3 years past his sell by date . When you have opposition players of Dane Coles ilk and calibre , exposing you yearly for being inferior in every department , it is time to hang up the boots . I will remember Moore as a useful hardworking scrummager but slow and laborious in the loose , who never had the leg speed to brake open spaces and rucks. Moores throwing ability was okay just like his Captaincy – all in all, an unremarkable hooker/player .

My best Hookers of all time

1) Dane Coles ( The Adam Gilchrist of Rugby , takes no prisoners and has revolutionized the game.)
2) Keith Wood. ( Unbelievable motor and just never stopped rampaging )
3) Sean Fitzpatrick ( As tough and uncompromising as 10 men)
4) John Smit ( Never shrieked an issue and a rare man being able to galvanize the Sprinboks)
5) Phil Kearns ( Extremely clever and great scrum tactician – never took a backwards step either)
6) Steve Thompson ( I regularly watched him at Twickenham demolish teams with his 6ft Frame )
7) Mario Ledesma ( longevity personified and had no weaknesses )

No excuses left for Wallabies after Scotland smashing

Good call Gus.

All these delusional Rugby pundits on here declaring the Wallabies are on an upward trajectory , turned the corner , team is galvanizing under Cheika…….blah, blah, blah. Australia has NEVER accurred in such a short space of time a disastrous record against Northern Hemisphers opponents . Drawing twice against the worst Springbok team in history and beating a depleted and exhausted All Black team , equates to ” fools gold” .

As many people have noted , Cheika has been cruelly exposed at this level as he simply lacks the intellectual smarts to beat teams strategically – he is all fire and brimstone and nothing between the ears . Cheika is embarrassing on so many levels and unto he resigns the once great and proud Wallabies will make these chumps from the North look a lot better than what they actually are .

You have lost me – how can Cheika be doing an ” amazing job” when we have continued to lose against NZ. In that respect the Wallabies are no different to the Super teams .

Are the Wallabies great or terrible? We're still not sure

Our super teams won Championshisp in 2011 & 2014 , really not that long ago. It is not so much our coaching is terrible, but rather the culture of Rugby in Australia . It is a minority sport in Oz and does not generate the cultural values, beliefs and mores it does in NZ and SA . The Wallabies don’t define our sporting indentity like the All Blacks and Springboks respectively do in those countries . The AB’s and Boks are front , middle and back page news in their own countries whereas in Australia , rugby struggles to even make the back pages in two states .

Considering Rugbys place in the Australian sporting hierarchy , it actually does produce decent coaches and occasionally great ones ,-Dwyer , McQueen and yes Jones . We can coach but don’t place the utter importance on it like New Zealand – we have many trades and crafts in Australia and rugby is but one of them. Dare I say , if Union was our national game would our cabinet be similar to that of Leagues – 10 cups and counting !

Oh dear , ” quite articulate” ! I gather you are from the school of hard knocks synonymous with , ” l luvs youse alls “…..

Fifita carries the ball over the line and with one hand grounds the ball to score winning try in GF . Fiffita was clearly BOG and it was laughable Luke Lewis got awarded it based on a players indiscretions off the field . Literally and figuratively Fifita won the game single handedly for Cronulla – indeed , if he didn’t play in the GF Cronulla would of been absolutely smashed by Melbourne .

Why don't more league men pick David over Goliath?

He is a Pelican and flys all over Australia .

Tippet. Dangerfield. Lever. Cameron. Why players leave the Adelaide Crows

Fifita singlehandedly won Cronulla the Premiership – yeah real peanut !

Touché , very good!

“But Cheika is the linguist speaking fluent French, Italian, and Arabic.”

Wow that is super impressive in light of him being unable to speak audible English . Are you 100% sure he can speak those languges as his grasp of English is woeful ?

Good point . I remember Anderson in his formative tears running around with dyed pink/red hair – summed up his early career.

Is Jimmy Anderson an all time great?

No bowler in the history of cricket has bowled so much shi$ and taken as many wickets . Half of beefy’s wickets were accumulated through balls a meter outside off stump – thumped to third man, cover, point , extra cover, long off. Most batsman always had a swipe at his bowling because they genuinely didn’t like him.

Hadlee was awesome with an incredible motor but did he really swing the ball massively ? I remember him as more of a wicket to wicket bowler who had phenomal accuracy , not swing . In a few ways there are a lot of similarities between Hadlee and McGrath – metronomic pin point craftsman .

Is Jimmy Anderson an all time great?

….”horses owned or part-owned by Worner; including ‘Chicks Dig Me’, Centrefold Spread’ and ‘Legs Akimbo.’

Appers Tim is quite the Stud , no pun intended . Of course it is his fault that numerous women slept with him , all his fault . Never mind that women have an insatiable appetite for sex and disregarding workplace boundaries . Seems to me that Tim is a Lothario and women are attracted to him – yet again his fault . If Tim was Gay or Transgender the network would be celebrating him regardless of who he slept with . Yet another instance of men being demonized and displaced in society by “Girl Power “……. Spice it up girls!

The AFL's 900 million shades of hypocrisy

Snow was no where near the great fast bowler Trueman was , not even close !

Freddy was genuinely terrifying and bowled long spells without ever dropping his pace . If Freddy had not come from Yorkshire he would be rightly heralded as one of England’s greatest ever sportsman . The Toffs at Lords hated him because he was a Northerner who always spoke his mind . In many ways, he was the antithesis of an English Gentleman back then and the prawn sandwich brigade begrudged him . Trueman was a great, great bowler in the same vein as Dennis Lillee .

Is Jimmy Anderson an all time great?

Phast Phil

Well said Phil.

I would rate him the best swing bowler I have seen since Terry Alderman. In the right conditions Anderson is simply sublime. I have seen him many times on English wickets and he can move the ball in the air and off the seam better than any bowlers last 30 odd years. To take 500 test wickets in the era of batter friendly pitches, fields, boundaries and hitting technology is no mean feat – great bowler but not all -time great .

Is Jimmy Anderson an all time great?

How could this ever be a topic and/or issue with Billy Slater in the team !

The Melbourne Storm are great, not boring

Bill

Brilliantly summarized !

Forget the fairytale, the perfect Storm were always winning the premiership

Is there a bigger tool than Gus Gould in RL ? It’s hilarious that he sits there in the exalted company of the greatest players of all time , which he is not one of them , then opens his trap with all the past greats looking at each other and thinking ” Please no more verbal diarrhea you nauseating contrived assho$$ “.

NRL grand final 2017 final score: Storm slam Cowboys in emphatic fashion

Brodie Croft is earmarked to take over from Cooper Cronk , not Munster .

Since Munster has come back from injury he has been pretty average – crabbing across the field and losing valuable field poison and shape. Munster is a good honest player whom in essence is a utility player due to his pedigree of being a jack of all trades and master of none ( positions). Munster had a break out game in SOO 3 but that sort of display is the exception , not the norm for him. Indeed , he had a birthday that game and I doubt wether we will see him achieve those heights again in SOO.

Brodie Croft is the next “big thing ” at The Storm and many at the club are quietly confident he can be as good as Cronk which leaves Melbourne in a very healthy position. Bellamy will readily replace Harris and Maclean and The Storm will be fighting out the Premiership again against the Cowboys.

Five talking points from Storm vs Cowboys NRL Grand Final

Yes it was a bit weird Smith not mentioning Cronk’s departure . Presumably he was happy with Billy’s emotional speech dedicated to the half back .
Smith was clearly BOG however , Slater was a close second and as Bellamy noted , no one deserved it more than Billy Slater . Quite simply he puts The Storm on another level and they are a very different beast with Slater calling the shots and executing plays.
If Slater had not missed two years due to injury he would of well surpassed Ken Irvines record – maybe he still can as he is playing as good as ever . Indeed , I would argue Billy is at his best and most valuable now due to the experience of being on the sidelines for an extended period and studying and coaching under Craig Bellamy’s tutelage. Slater has Coach written all over him and I expect him to play on for one more year then take up an assistants position within The Storm.
I rate him the greatest Storm player of all time simply because he is a unrelenting try scoring machine . If he is not scoring from anywhere on the field, he is setting them up for others and without him , The Storm would not have won multiply Premierships , period.

Cameron Smith didn't mention Cooper Cronk at the grand final presentation

DuncanSmith

“And in my dreams, I would love to see the 2004 Bulldogs go up against the 2017 Melbourne Storm. ”

Hope you got your YES vote in for SSM……

Called history mate – something which Melbourne has in spades . Where do you come from , that big country town…. ?

Another fake news flag for Victoria unfairly won at the MCG

Mattyb

Yes , cutting edge stadium which will struggle to draw capacity due to the fickle ,fair weather supporters in WA . The Sangropers rarely fill any stadiums in WA – must be all the depression about the worst housing market in Australia – Boom and Bust, like their supporters !
