I like your highs. I like your lows. 2023 for me:
– the highs are the high-quality Rugby coming out of NH
– the lows, are the low quality coming out of Aus Rugby in particular the institutions – administration, coaching and prep, and some of the most stupid reporting Ive ever seen

Broken promises, sacrificial lambs and a monumental low blow - goodbye, good riddance to 2023 for Wallabies fans

Hi W Evans. thanks for your thoughts. So QRU are the bad guys cos they wont hand over Ballymore? And like Ham, Clark is from a private school? His pocket square does lack humility

Humility cuts both ways: Brett Clark and the QRU deserve the same scrutiny as Hamish McLennan

– I would like to say that Ham was a disaster in the end. But dont think its the end
– I suspect there will be some kind of aftermath involving him / what he’s done
– Centralisation is not the solution. Same as PE
.
The guys in RARA are, though not totally incompetent:
– they clearly not competent – yet
– Who would entrust their assets, programmes, and people to a bunch of guys who cant get the basics right
– More importantly… shuffling the decks re high-performance will solve what problem exactly? And which genious is going to do it?

Australian Rugby is already top-heavy as it is. and it CONTINUES TO FAIL
– RARA are continuing on its lemming act
– Falling off cliff after cliff

gday jez. as RARA is a public company (CLBG). my understanding is because of this, by law nothing can stop members by simple majority, from removing any director they choose:
– not by any clause in the consti
– not by any agreement between the director and the company
– not by any agreement between the director and members

Thanks GP. Good topic! And well put imo. I think the panel should report to an EGM with members of Rugby Australia:
– or a sub-committee of the members
– not report to the board
– anyone can see the DEBACLE WAS CREATED BY THE BOARD
– without this, this panel and its released report, if any, has no credibility

SR is dying fish:
– It benefits NZ Rugby. Which in itself is an unsustainable fishbowl market
– SA has voted with its feet and is never going back
– For Aus, since early 2000s when it decided not to concentrate on its heartlands. Its throwing good money in after bad

Yup! The inferred summer (vs winter) reference is for UK cricket, and also as a comparison for Aus.

Ireland fit into the second bullet of my points above if you read into my thoughts more carefully. They are well clustered and easiler to organise / centralise

Don’t think so. Just in limbo for the mo

The RA has finally started to focus on grassroots. And try to compete with other winter sports. There’s three other things they haven’t decided on yet, until which point, will perpetuate these problems.

Even on the two things they have decided on. The execution is terrible. It’s compounded with its incompetent handling of the recent world cup

Thanks HaaazaaaaaaaaaAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa. WBs will not learn much imo. Until they realise the days up to 2003 is long, long gone:
– The NH domestic comps are the pinnacle now
– The SH domestic comps are unsustainable, the business model bronzed just before 2003
– Still thinking WBs are raison d’être for domestic Austalian Rugby and not the other way around
.
The one thing that threads the top 8 is they are:
– the #1 or #2 winter sport in their country and / or
– clustered in closer communities, instead of cluttered and spread all over the nation, like spreading butter in the Artic
.
Only when these domestic conditions are achieved, can Aus aspire to develop some cohesion, competency, and finally learn how to learn lessons

Thanks Hazaaaaaa!!!! These are great players!!! As i go through the list, the field of players are so close to one another, I couldnt really tell for the most part. I thought theres no real difference between the top 4 team players. What I saw that won and lost the games were:
– Combinations, as opposed to players. Not only traditionally pairings such as 12/13, front five, backrow. But also attacking and defensive interplay between the pack and backs
– How things panned out that day, plus finals experience “muscle memory”
– The points diff reflects that, I think
.
Anyone of the top four could have been holding that cup last weekend. Maybe even England!? 🤢 😱 😂

With respect to the recent and on going saga regarding rugby Australia and the Wallabies I don’t think we have seen the end of it. And I don’t think we have seen the bottom of it. We are as clueless ever, if not more so. Especially now that the board is clearly confusing income generated from anticipated Rugby events with making the right decision. It’s 2003 all over again!

Thanks GP. Your wrap is as epic as the tournament, and the finals. It was a great few weeks, as mentioned by many – the best ever:
– A great majority of the players in the final series, play in the NH.
– Except NZ, The franchise / provincial teams that feed the top teams play in the NH. including the winner
– Its an NH dominated game now.

I dont mind. What I mind is an Aussie debacle. But thats our own problem, our own fault
