This is worth a read.
Whilst I deplore the breach of the spirit of the game, I can’t see that Bancroft should be treat any more harshly than Du Plesis.
Smith, should be brought to account for bringing the game into disrepute. However the demands for multi year bans are excessive and would indicate equivalence to match fixing, which it is not. He should have the captaincy taken away from him though and a 2-3 test ban would be consistent with other incidents. An investigation into the rest of the “leadership group” involved should be conducted by CA.

Bancroft must be suspended if guilty of ball tampering
Mitch Marsh has a better batting average and strike rate in T20’s than Smith…and Bowls. Stoinis hasn’t played enough international T20’s to gauge how well he might do as yet to make a call.
Smith’s performance as 50 over captain with his non bowling of, and clear display of having no confidence in Maxwell, for me, should count him out as a captain of any of the shorter forms. He didn’t back a key player in his team Andy exhibited poor player management skills.
Who will be in Australia's T20 World Cup squad in 2020?
Well done Mitch Marsh, I was originally a fan and then a doubter after repeated failures.
Some interesting stats. Steve Waugh didn’t make a hundred until his 27th test, whilst at the same point as Mitch after 21 tests, Waugh’s average was 27.43. Mitch Marsh’s average is now 27.58. At 21 tests Waugh’s bowling average was 36.7 and Marsh’s is 38.9.
I’m not saying that Marsh is the reincarnation of Waugh, S. however there are interesting statistical similarities at this point. I hope that he keeps improving.
Rebuilt Mitch Marsh dismantles England
The changes to junior cricket are fantastic, and have improved the game for the kids. The only thing that I would change is to make a no ball penalty 2 runs. After all, it is not re bowled so the scoring opportunity is diminished. Better bowlers at lower age groups can actually go for more runs.
CA is changing the junior game as we know it, and it’s about time
Like to know what others think of the deck….pretty disappointing wicket for Brissy, soft and slow
Disciplined England wear down Australia
I can’t agree in relation to Handscomb. Being unorthodox isn’t necessarily an issue as evidenced by Smith and Warners careers to date. He is averaging 53 and will continue to improve. It’s not been one big innings either that pumped his average.
Disciplined England wear down Australia
Exactly Jeffrey, playing for the turn is a serious technique issue. He should be playing the line as M Clarke was pointing out in the commentary.
Disciplined England wear down Australia
Would’ve like to have seen Lyon back up the pre test banter with a bouncer or two and the mandatory mid pitch stare….
The Liebke Ratings: First Ashes Test, part 1
So it would seem that Vic has a far more solid grass roots and development pathway…despite WA being in their 11th season, 5 more than the Rebels. There seems to be more players in Melbourne and ultimately, it’s numbers playing that will make the Wallabies better
Sorry Melbourne. If the ARU is genuine, the Force must stay
Check the Wallabies under 20 squad as to where the players come from.
Sorry Melbourne. If the ARU is genuine, the Force must stay
Brett, if I’m right, in the recently named Wallabies under 20 squad, Vic had 4 players plus 4 Rebels, and WA had 2 players…this seems relevant in terms of player development for this discussion
Sorry Melbourne. If the ARU is genuine, the Force must stay
Nevilles keeping in SriLanka was a lot worse than than Wades in India, and Wades batting seemed better
Australia squander an elusive series win in India
And the grass, mow it shorter and prepare it as a day 3(or4) pitch for day 1 of the test…at least that is what I imagine will be done
Dharamsala's pacy pitch set to favour Aussies
Hazy averages 16and Lyon 13, that’s hardly the worst 10-11 combo! Don’t forget that Pattisons no mug either
Australia's reverse swing can decide Indian series
Touché, Don’t think Kawaja should be dropped now though. Most of his past failures in Asia were before he started nailing down the #3 spot. He should be persevered with.
Also, Interested on your perspective on Arjun Nair, Ronan?
Picking Nathan Lyon in India would be a mistake
Dropping Kawaja Ronan! Surely you jest?

Love to see them play anywhere!
Australia in India? It will be 4-0, and it will be ugly
We just don’t have the bats to stand up to the Indian spinners, nor the spinners to trouble the Indian bats, as much as some Roarers love to push SOK’s case, he’s not going to rip through the Indians. If only Arjun Nair was 2 years further along….
Australia in India? It will be 4-0, and it will be ugly
Jeez, would love to see Pakistan tour India….that would be a mighty contest!
Australia in India? It will be 4-0, and it will be ugly
Chris, pretty sure that Wade’s always stepped up in regards to batting at international level. And I think that he’s made some fairly gritty runs too. There is also the point that they may not want another rookie batting at 7 after Handscomb and Maddinson and that might have counted against Whiteman
Australia's selectors nailed it, with one glaring exception
Jeez, Lyon’s lucky to keep his place….Would’ve liked another spinner blooded before we go India, though there’s no one really putting their name out there.
Australia's selectors nailed it, with one glaring exception
How’s Whireman been going as keeper? Got a 50 today and was well n the frame a while bacK
Fresh ingredients required for Australia's cooked top order
Marcus Stoinis seems to be missing from the conversation..
Up to six changes for Australia's Test team at Adelaide - who's in?
How would you sort out the captaincy record when half the side isn’t performing?
Up to six changes for Australia's Test team at Adelaide - who's in?
Interesting that Adelaide used to be the road, and now it’s the fairest.
