I will remember as long as I live the fact that I left at Tea on the day that Steve Waugh hit his 100 on the last ball of the day at the SCG in 2003. He was on 8 at the time.

I don’t think Watson has done enough overall to warrant selection as a no. 3. When he is bowling, he is a great asset to the team, but his batting over the last 5 years in Tests has been extremely sub-par. As I don’t think we should be making too much of an overhaul on the back of one bad series, I think he should stay to begin with. However, with Marsh in the team and Clarke returning, he should be under a lot of pressure.

I like the idea of Burns coming in most, but I understand the argument for Ferguson, I have been on the other hand surprised that there hasn’t been much talk here about Shaun Marsh.

No Clarke but no surprises for the Gabba Test

I’m not too sure of finishing Shield up by November, but I guess CA likes the money from the BBL in December/January too much to get Shield games going through to the end of the Test Summer. I believe it has been outlined above that considerations into the quality need to be made as well. It is all well and good to be increasing the talent pool numerically, but if Shield players do not receive quality opposition, it will be detrimental to the preparation of Test cricketers.
