There was plenty of niggle from both sides, all night long and the ref should take responsibility for no stamping it out earlier. White was the usual protagonist and even after a warning to both captains about niggle pushed Kolisi over after the whistle in front of the ref who did nothing. You didn’t see 6 Boks reacting to that like the nothing touch to Koroibete which 6 wallabies reacted to. All round an I’ll tempered affair which should have been better handled by the ref.

Players from both side mouthing off and swearing in front of the ref and again nothing.

It’s pretty easy to sort this stuff out right at the start and penalise and award 10 metres of chirping. Sevens have the right concept with no tolerance for shielding the ball or throwing/kicking it away after a penalty conceded.

White & Le Roux have got to be the 2 most annoying players on the international circuit!!

SA View: 'Bottle that anger and intensity' - Etzebeth's 'face of fury' in brutal Boks response shows path to RWC glory

Absolutely first true thing you’ve said all day

REACTION: 'Best winger in the world' - 'Mind blowing' Marika's magic delivers Wallabies epic win over Springboks

Just because the are blind and biased doesn’t make it the right call. There was no attempt at all and it was poor officiating. Wallabies outplayed the Boks but call a spade a spade

REACTION: 'Best winger in the world' - 'Mind blowing' Marika's magic delivers Wallabies epic win over Springboks

Clearly they need glasses. Poor show, from that call, to the Faf yellow to reviewing a knock backwards from the Wallabies after the try has been scored which wouldn’t have changed the try

Best no arms shoulder charge try saving tackle you’ll see all year!

It will be very interesting how WR and Aussies react to open criticism of refs in the same week that Rassie gets a ban for his ‘ref bashing’. Video or no video Rennie has fronted the media to, how did Ben put it… ‘character assassinate’ and openly question refs decisions. Don’t expect much to happen though

'Is there any accountability?': Everything Rennie said as he savaged refs group over 'massive decisions'

WR don’t apologise unless the AB’s are involved or have you forgotten?

Why the All Blacks and Wallabies will be thrilled to avoid South Africa in 2021

Nic, what is disturbing is how you blatantly use some very good and accurate analysis that gives you some semblance of credibility and then mix it with absolute hogwash. There is a big difference between pointing out a lack of respect and difference in ones treatment, to saying someone is racist. You know nothing of Siya, his character or life.

We’re here to win: Springboks…..
Rugby Championship – Tick
World Cup – Tick
B&I Lions – Tick
World # 1 – Tick
😱 😂 🏉

We're not here to entertain: Springboks

Stick to your local club where there’s little to no money involved. If you want to ‘enjoy’ sport on tv then you accept the business of sport. Sponsor and fans don’t care to watch a losing team

We're not here to entertain: Springboks

Carlos, last time I checked sponsors pay winners, not pretty losers. I’d much rather the boks winning record since Rassie & Nien’s took over than that of any other team in the world. Gees, 4 years ago SA were trying to playing free flowing entertaining rugby and they lost 57 – 0 to NZ.

I mean the only sponsor ARU could get is an inferior quality chocolate bar because they play beautiful losing rugby.

We're not here to entertain: Springboks

Buck bucked the trend 😁
In all seriousness though, the use of treads kept the players honest… BRING IT BACK 😁

clearly you missed the irony but ok 😂

Springboks lose key players for Lions decider

I actually think the pitch is one of the reasons (there are more) that we aren’t seeing too much running

Springboks lose key players for Lions decider

how serendipitous would that be? 😂

Springboks lose key players for Lions decider

It surely did happen, different time, different technology, same result in questioning the referee and his decisions… bringing the game into disrepute.

Henry wrote a book on how he thought that the 2007 match could have involved match fixing.

If these 2 incidents themselves (amongst many other incidents) do not show a pattern of this type of behaviour over the years being accepted then I doubt even the smartest minds around would be able to make supporters like you see even the smallest level of sense.

How Rassie Erasmus (over)ruled World Rugby in the second Test

😂 😂 bias knows no bounds right?

Henry release a book while still involved in rugby
Woodward – https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/rugbyunion/article-4550534/Sir-Clive-Woodward-opens-Lions-tour-New-Zealand.html

I’ve said it many times over the last week, do I agree with Rassies approach… NO. BUT to pretend like he is the first is laughable. Different approach, but same result to bring the game into disrepute

How Rassie Erasmus (over)ruled World Rugby in the second Test

Iso, bias much?

Sir Henry & Sir Woodward have both done their version of this drama, heck Sir Henry even wrote a book and mentions that he thought the 2007 game was fixed he even identified every infringement by France based on his extensive analysis of the footage, which he says allows him to conclude what the score would have been in the match.

The only difference…. Rassie is yet to be Knighted but surely it will come 😂 Just imagine…SIR Rassie 😂 😂

How Rassie Erasmus (over)ruled World Rugby in the second Test

Harty & Bluesfan, can you comment on SIR Clive Woodward criticising refereeing decisions with images in front of the press in 2005, article for reference – https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/rugbyunionc/article-4550534/Sir-Clive-Woodward-opens-Lions-tour-New-Zealand.html

Can you remember the punishment?
Other than length of time (62min vs undefined) is there a difference?

I also think that taking scrapping or giving the Lions the win would pretty much sum up the end of this type of tour. Each tour has had it controversy and long will it continue… unless they make you judge and jury

I think WR needs to set the law, draw a line and then enforce from there.

How Rassie Erasmus (over)ruled World Rugby in the second Test

Nic, I’m sure SARU’s lawyers are hard at work (which shouldn’t be hard at all) to prove that WR has no consistency on the field or when it come to ref bashing. This could go as far as the Court of Arbitration for Sport if WR continue to be inconsistent in their dealings with these matters. You can’t fine, ban or sanction 1 and not another when careers and money are involved. It’s time WR moved out of the amateur realm and into a professional one where they pretend to exist.

Except for the consistent ref bashing that has lead to a fine (think Cheika), coaches have been doing this for years in 1 way or another, from the subtle words to a journo that makes a big splash, to Rassies 62 min rant and somewhere in between there in 2005 when Woodward stood and did exactly the same (albeit without the same tech) in front of the media and journos. Only difference is Rassie was his own journalist and media, so one could say, straight from the horses mouth. Sir Graham Henry in 2012 said he wondered whether match-fixing was to blame for New Zealand’s shock World Cup quarter-final exit to France in 2007 (Wayne barnes – ref).

The current 2nd in charge of WR has been openly critical of refereeing decisions himself

WR should take a football approach, lay down the law, nice and clearly, set sanctions and then start reinforcing them. Everyone outside of SA is pretending this is the first time, either their daft, have no memory or a combination of these 2 and more.

If anything, from the history and the above accounts Rassie is well on his way to a Knighthood…sir rassie here we come 😂

How Rassie Erasmus (over)ruled World Rugby in the second Test

😂 😂 Look like a bit, tastes like a bit, smells like a bit…must be a… 😂 Willie seems incensed with Hogg at the time and the rest of the game but obviously biceps of steel. Isn’t this the real reason gum guards were introduced 😂

Jeez one could make a highlight reel from every nation about off the ball, just plain wrong, ref bias etc dating back to the start.

O’gara’s absolutle pummeling but McRae in Aus
O’Driscolls near death experience in NZ
Schalks eye gouge in 2009
Woowards lesson to the press via image and powerpoint about how the ref got it wrong
Call ’99’ in 1974
Penalty call in 2017 to draw the series
Rassies 62 minute rant (definitely seems like he remembered what Woodward did in 2005 and thought not only will do it and try and get away with it, I’ll do it bigger and better)

Secretly everyone loves the drama and rugby most surely will survive.
Every 4 years there is hype and drama surrounding this tour… people saying the tour won’t survive, fans fighting, coaches complaining and 1 team taking the honours (except 2017). Long may it continue 😂

How Rassie Erasmus (over)ruled World Rugby in the second Test

Just bring back the ability to ruck and use studs… breakdowns were rarely such a problem back in the day. Not even sure anyone ever got really hurt from this practice and it kept a team honest (obviously no head rucking allowed). Very similar to Itoje in the first test when defending the try line, not supporting his body weight. Happens every game, sometime goes for you, sometimes not

How Rassie Erasmus (over)ruled World Rugby in the second Test

And I think Berry should apologise to Kolisi for not affording him the same level of courtesy he afforded Jones. It was clear during the game. I guess Kolisi has video evidence to back it up, what do you have?

Rassie Erasmus to face World Rugby misconduct hearing over 62-minute ref rant

Sorry I thought I was done, but I just could help when this came to light… Jacko and friends this one is dedicated to you 😁

Just read this on another site…no names mentioned and I could remember it happening, so I googled it and what do you know… evidence of a Lions coach who I won’t name using the most advanced technology he had at the time (stills and a powerpoint with a pointing pen) to question a critical refereeing decision in front of the press conference…wow… the absolute hypocrisy of some (including said coach) to call Rassie out when this has been happening for a loooong time is mind boggling.

Copy & paste –

‘Erasmus’ video is also not the first time a coach has been critical of an official during a Lions tour. In the 2005 Lions series against New Zealand, following Brian O’Driscoll’s tour-ending injury in a spear tackle by Tana Umaga, apoplectic Lions coach %#%#%#% highlighted the illegality of the incident during a media conference using photo stills and a PowerPoint presentation.’

So if nothing comes from this hearing please for the love of rugby don’t start spewing rubbish about boks getting away with it

Feel free to google – Sir-Clive-Woodward-opens-Lions-tour-New-Zealand (oops, I said I wouldn’t name him 😛 )

The Wrap: Springboks victory surge vindicates Erasmus, but at what cost?
