Not since the glory days back at The Dell, when Lawire McMenemy sat in the dugout and Peter Shilton and David Armstrong were running…
When Kurt Tippett limped off the field against Carlton with an injured knee, many people gave the Sydney next to no chance to go…
With so much vitriol currently directed at the Australian selectors, you would be forgiven for thinking they had just sent the local under-10's team…
City really missed fernandinho last night in midfield. If he is fit demechelis doesn’t play, which is the best thing that could happen to city right now. Toure is scandoulsy bad defensivley and could almost be considered a liability, he badly missed fernandinho’s energy and defensive coverage. City as a whole also missed his late runs and crucially his distribution from in front of the back four.
Will be interesting to see arsenals performance of the next couple of weeks, like you said they have a few tricky fixtures ahead of them but crucially they are at home
No new order after City's blue Monday
Both Enright and Mayne were handed the same penatly, which was one week and 25 carry-over points, and both had the chance to reduce it to a reprimand and 93 carry-over points with an early guilty plea. Enright decided to challenge the ruling, which was upheld by the MRP, Mayne took the plea which enabls him to play in the prelim final.
Should suspensions be reduced during finals?
Hurn cant be in there, have to be someone sensational to only play half a season of football and be picked for an AA team. Plus he was only in reasonable nick before he did his ankle. If Mcpharlin had played more would have been a lock again, kept his opponent goalless in 11 of the 13 games he played but same case as Hurn, too much football missed. Scott Thompson (North Melbourne) is a logical selection as a defensive replacement considering some of the form he has been in this year. Constantly undersized against key forwards yet managers to usually break even or beat his opponent. Plus gives some dash and structure coming out of defense
Both buddy and Cyril haven’t played good enough for long enough to be selected on the field. Cyril probably had one of his quiter years in the AFL yet while buddy hasn’t been in typical destructive buddy form, even going a fair few games not kicking a goal. Roughead is the most sensible replacement for him while the AA selectors usually like to place an extra midfielder on the half forward position that Rioli occupies. Someone to fill that could possibly be Nathan Fyfe who has been one of the better midfielders in a team which is poised for a top 2 finish or Dan Hannebery who is a top 5 brownlow chance easily.
Minson certainly needs to be in the ruck, one of the most dominating players this season, easily better than Maric who struggled with groin problems for a good while. The midfield is solid but there a players such as Michael Barlow and Travis Boak who definitely have strong cases for a midfield berth.
My possible 2013 AFL All-Australian team
Agar was brilliant to say the least. But some credit must also be given to Hughes, he has his knockers but played a smart, controlled innings. He didn’t throw his wicket away, ran well between the stumps and let Ashton be himself. Plus he got to witness that innings from only meters away, fair to say they both had great days.

Cousins didn’t take performance enhancing drugs mate, there is a difference
For the game's sake, stand Jobe down now
If the concept were to go ahead, it should be based on where you are from, not what team you play for. If I was playing at an interstate club and the choice of which origin team to represent rose its head, I would go to my home state without a moments hesitation. The thing so great about NRL origin is that you are representing the state where you grew up and were you got your first taste of senior league footy (Greg Inglis aside), that’s why players are so passionate about the cause and why they do hate each other so much.
AFL State of Origin: let's get it going
It is fair to say that the IPL was designed to target the Indian market rather than an international one. The IPL can afford to focus its efforts on what the Indian people want considering there is almost 1 billion people living there. This means it should be a lot easier to generate revenue considering it is such a massive market, companies will pay thousands of dollars to advertise their product on a program that should have in excess of 50 million viewers. Like Glenn also said, there is now a middle class of Indian citizens that can afford to go watch these games, and its fair to say, judging by most crowds, they are loving it
Pssst, did you even know the IPL is on?
Just a note that Taylor Hine plays for North Melbourne now so that leaves 3 spots to be filled by players
Where does Karmichael Hunt fit?
It should be that the starting team should be voted for by the fans and the Substitute bench picked by Players/Coaches/Experts etc. Much like the way the NBA all star game is done which is a formula that seems the have some merit. This way players like McFlynn can get a run out while players that actually deserve their spot through form have a chance to participate as well
Ange Postecoglou announced as All Stars coach
I think you’ve nailed it in reguards to there development and recruiting Cam.
Just no x-factor anywhere to be seen!
Guys like Dustin Martin who can do that stuff are being forced into different positions because the rest of the list is incapable of other things
Too many solid, good picks who will get the job done but simply nothing more. Imagine if they had a Stephen Hill type or someone like Dylan Sheil. Someone who will run 35 then kick 40. Like you said they just don’t have any flair or excitement and they are becoming a bit of a bore. I think they really, really do miss Delidio who is probably their most important.
