Much still can happen in this rwc…things can change in a moment. “Many a slip, twixt the cup and lip.”
As to Eddie joining me in the elite class…Well, all titles need to be earned, not given.
As a wallabies fan, I wish him all the success as he is an aussie, but for me I, like Brett have no skin in these games. It’s been great and have enjoyed the rugby thoroughly, none so more than Japan stepping up, stepping in and stepping on Ireland and Scotland with a brand of rugby that any nation would be proud of.

Rugby World Cup final expert tips: mad Boks and Englishmen

For me the winner and loser in this rwc have already been etched into hard granite…..
Japan for their wonderful pool games. Entertaining, joyous, against the odds and a reminder of what we all love. What a winner.
The losers were my wonderful NZ brothers, an upset unexpected? I’ll admit a certain schadenfreude to this game.
To the final 2 matches?
Well Japan came forth and conquered, the others just came fourth.????????????

Rugby World Cup final expert tips: mad Boks and Englishmen

I think there could of been a mention of the classic INXS album “Kick”…. A great Wallabies tribute album. When you look at some of the songs on the album. ….”Mystify” When we lose. “A new sensation” when we win, “Need you tonight” when the game is in the balance, “The loved one “..on selection policy, “Kick”…well quite a few could relate to this, “Never tear us apart” is this the Pooper? Not to mention other songs on the album….like “Devil inside” and “Calling all nations”
Great write up Geoff. Thanks.

The Wrap: The Wallabies and other rugby matters explained in vinyl

Well finally this should make all Roarers very happy.

Hooper out, Pocock to captain at No.7

As a wallabies fan I give this a +1

It’s not all doom and gloom for the Wallabies

It’s time for Wallabies glory, time to bring back the Bled. We will see moments of individual brilliance, coupled with enthused committed team defense. Wallabies by 4.

Wallabies vs All Blacks Bledisloe Cup Game 1 preview and prediction

Great write up as usual GP. Thank you.
Who on here was tempted with the long odds that the bookies were giving the Lions? I mean $8.50 was enticing.
I was tempted with a neighbor to share a $100 bet and we were high fiving ourselves at 70 minutes that we didn’t and what we had saved. I thought the bookies odds of $1.90 on handicap with the Lions getting a 18.5 point start was an uncanny prediction with the crusaders winning by 19.
How do they get it so right?

The Wrap: Crusaders win the stats that matter - and with them the title

Is it just me or others that thought last weeks game could so so easily have gone the other way? Was so proud of the Wallabies, but watching the game again felt that luck went our way (for a change) In Cheika I trust….just nervous. Hope the boys bring the same resolve again. CARN WALLABIES.

Cheika names unchanged side to play Ireland

Being a Cheika fan, I find it harder and harder to defend the indefensible. From my business experience, I wonder if he has set up an environment where everyone is being micromanaged?
It’s a sure way to gain initial results, but eventually becomes stifling, where you are constantly aecond guessing yourself. A sure way to lose your self expression, flair and confidence.
Good leaders, set a goal, create a mission statement and then you have to let the team have a certain amount of autonomy to grow in abilty.
I think it was in 97 that McQueen declared the “bring back Bill” mission. Great losses along the way, but what a beautiful end result.

Scotland the blueprint as Wallabies end 2017 with another backward step

Not confident for the Wallabies in this one and I see Stuart Hogg as the best playmaker on the field, particularly if he has a repeat of his performance of last week. Takes his opportunities. If the Wallabies remain patient and focused for 80, then we’re in for a win.
Go the Wallabies.

Scotland vs Wallabies Spring Tour Test preview and prediction

I am an unashamed Cheika fan. I think he has his sights firmly planted on the next WC and overcoming many of the problems we were facing prior to the ladt WC. This forum is constantly bemoaning selections. ….well the good news is we are finally lucky to be able to do this, he has given us depth, he assuredly has the support of the dressing room, we don’t see any late night fiascos after games anymore. Ultimately every coach is measured each 4 years at the ultimate tournament, and IMHO this is Cheikas goal. 2016 and 2017 where never going to be our years, and history shows that teams peaking 2 years early rarely get the prize if ever. Enjoy the long game roarers because that’s the game MC is playing.

Can Michael Cheika transform himself as Wallabies coach?

What about John Eales?

Lynagh him up as the next ARU CEO

Bookies are paying $15 for a Wallabies win or giving Australia a 28.5 point start on even money. Sounds about right.
If you are delusional like me, you might be tempted to put some coin on a Wallabies win of over 14 points paying $176. ….nah I’ll put the the 10 on Argentina winning the championship.

Wallabies stick with similar team for Bledisloe 2

Tears have been happening for years now. Over crying.

Wallabies stick with similar team for Bledisloe 2

Personally, I’d like to see Cheika adress the Wallabies mental fitness. When you’ve got the mental resilience to want to win and if you’re winning the contest for the ball at each stage such as breakdown or scrum etc you are energised and enthused above your physical fitness. C’mon Wallabies, you’ve all got two arms and two legs just like your opponent, just got to want it more.

Why did Cheika go public with Wallabies' fitness concerns?

Hey Chook, you beat me to it………and I was just about to switch my allegiance from Wallabies to. AB’s just for this BIL tour. Thanks so Much Jeremy!!!!!!!!
Now , after these comments from my Anzac brother…….I’m forced into a corner and will have to back the BIL underdogs that I was hoping to see get whipped…..
Oh well…..it’s become my habit….to be a stout supporter of ever losing sides. Should be a purrrfect tour.

I'd be Lion if I said I wasn't excited

I like this team, but in reality, I would just have Yoda…….maybe Obi Wan Kenobe as well for a bit of chit chat on the field, all the others can just sit on the reserve bench…..
Yoda, would just use his Jedi mind powers……
“thats not the tryline your going for”.
“thats not your ball”.
“thats not your feed”
“Pass it to me”

Come to think of it, how come we aren’t coaching this already , I mean they are just Kiwi’s….lol.

ARU crisis: A whistleblower speaks

Good article, and here’s the point for me. The Wallabies have had a history of plucking obscure unknown players from wherever and these guys have stepped up to the plate and become world class.
I’m happy to be corrected, but wasn’t Nick Farr Jones an example of this. I know there are other players from back in the days of Dwyer, Jones, and McQueen coaching where inexperienced raw talent was spotted and slotted onto the field and these guys stood up and made us all very proud.
This is the frustration that us as fans feel when it comes to another disappointing season….we all know the talent is out there right now to fill the cabinet with silver.
I’m sure other roarers can add more names of the nobodies who became somebodies relatively overnight.

Is Will Millar the answer for Australian rugby's woes?

Always interesting reading the objective and subjective views and opinions here…..so to put all of this in context, the bookies have the Lions at $3.50 and the All Blacks at $1.30…..Good Luck Lions!

The British and Irish Lions will win the series

Every time I see an article by you Nicholas I begin to drool with anticipation. Thank you for all your good work this year, been pleasurable to read your objective analysis, free from partisan support.
My only critique of this article is that MC actually only needs one new member to the Wallabies….and I am probably not alone amongst the roarers…..wait for it….
You’ve heard it first. ….
MC needs Mr. Nicholas Bishop.
Each article you’ve written is a beautiful note in the song of your resume.
Oh…and if you like living by the sea…we’ll get you your own beach here.
Merry Christmas to you and yours, look forward to either your articles next year or your personal attention to MC and the Wallabies.

A fantasy Christmas gift for the Australian Rugby Union

Australia by 8. If they maintain discipline and have a variable game plan with a few kicks behind the advantage line then the Wallabies will grind out a win. It’s going to be a slug fest.

Wallabies vs England - what's your tip?

Pretty fair comment JimmyB. The only beauty of Spiro’s work is reading the follow-up comments. Yes he is polarizing. In fact, whilst I will read his articles, from my point of view its usually a rehash of the comments on the roar from the previous few days.

Jones vs Cheika: This time it's nasty and Jones is to blame

Thanks JimmyB, it really wasn’t that hard. A bit like the Wallabies playing Namibia in 2003.
Do you remember that?
If not you could Google it….here’s a link in case its another thing that you may have missed.

Cheers, all good.

Jones vs Cheika: This time it's nasty and Jones is to blame

You get the knighthood from being cheeky with your nephew’s and nieces who all call you Timbo and you reply its Sir Timbo to you.
You should know this already Timothy…the tag that is used when you’re in trouble.
