Bogga, I’m just saying that winning form is good form, no matter how they do it. Big game for the Hawks tmrw. Their form of a couple of weeks ago suggests they are certainly a flag contender but they have slightly dropped off. Swans are class and could win easily but reckon the Hawks will have a point to prove.

Round 6 wrap: Geelong professional, West Coast set to fire

Just need Hawks by 3 goals…

Bogga, don’t see Melbourne going to NZ anytime soon considering St Kilda are playing games there next couple of years.
Carlton and Port got the job done.
Geelong, Sydney, Hawthorn definite top 4 prospects. Reckon the Dons will drop off.
I think Richmond are good enough to trouble some of those sides if they are up on the day. Beat Hawks by 10 goals last year!

Round 5 tips: Cats to roll along and Carlton to edge Adelaide

Yep, North’s leaky defence almost got a mention. Copped 100-plus scores all three weeks thus far.

Round 3 wash-up: Are Port and Essendon the real deal?

Not sure if Port were underrated last year. They won five games! Just saying they have almost equalled that just three rounds into the season suggesting they have improved dramatically. For them to beat Adelaide isn’t a huge upset but just shows, after Melbourne and GWS wins, that they can beat ok sides.

GWS will certainly be getting some negative feedback if they are beaten easily this week…..

Sydney looking extremely solid. Clearly an editing mistake the 2013 Premiers call….

Round 3 wash-up: Are Port and Essendon the real deal?

Cheers TomC. GWS looking more competitive than they were and Gold Coast’s improvement is fairly substantial.

Paul, if the Dons beat Freo on Friday, or perform well and get close, I will then give them their due credit.

Positive and negatives from Round 2 of the AFL

Yeah good point Milo. The point I was making that in seasons past, they would have lost both of those games. Certainly the Bulldogs at full tilt will test Richmond but there is certainly room for improvement after two wins which is a major plus.

Positive and negatives from Round 2 of the AFL

Cheers Chris. Hope to see a bit of improvement out west. The key is to get games into the youngsters and let them come through together I suppose.

Western Bulldogs 2013 AFL preview

He was mainly used as a defender at Freo but can play anywhere really. Through the midfield, as a run-with or up forward. Hard to place players in genres these days due to the amount of versatility required to be an AFL player.

Cheers TomC.

Western Bulldogs 2013 AFL preview

I still think they are primed for a tilt at the flag but obviously they are very tricky things to win. Not sure if the loss will affect them too much. Got some fairly handy players to come back in. They will be around the mark come seasons end in my opinion.

West Coast 2013 AFL preview

I guess I meant for Smith to continue his solid form and just lumped him in that group with Everitt etc. In hindsight probably should have had him in the next group up.

In regards to Richards, he is certainly a decent player after last season but simply doesn’t get the fanfare around the league even after his All-Australian selection, hence the underrated call. Malceski when at his best is a vital player and I think Mattner does fly under the radar to a degree.

Thanks for the feedback.

Sydney 2013 AFL preview

12 years without finals! I think it’s about time Richmond heightened their ambitions after being mediocre for so long. Surely they cannot go around striving for competitiveness forever!

Richmond 2013 AFL preview

Haha, hopefully it will be a case of ‘Can Richmond make…I mean stay in the final eight?’. Cheers!

Richmond 2013 AFL preview

Well The Curious Case of Benjamin Stratton, that simply seems to be the question posed every year and Richmond continually answer it in a negative fashion. Sorry I couldnt write an article about finishing bottom or winning the flag but this is the reality of their current situation…..

Richmond 2013 AFL preview

Don’t think the Tiges have ever been compared to Ana Ivanovic before!!
They would have snuck in had they won those three matches and avoided the draw because they would have finished equal with North on 14 wins but made up the less than 1% required to edge them out. However, they did not so it doesn’t really matter.
They have a list of players capable of making the eight but I always treat Richmond with trepidation. Keeps the stress levels down!

His comment was simply summing up Melbourne’s season overall. He didn’t say it is the most shameful thing he has ever seen, just merely from a football team.

Melbourne 2013 AFL preview

I just feel the young Suns players have an extra season on the Giants youngsters which will see them remain slightly ahead
In saying that, the Giants look to have an overall better batch of youth but inconsistency will be a problem, as it has been for the Suns over two seasons.

GWS preview should be up later today or tomorrow guys.

Gold Coast Suns 2013 AFL preview

I agree Sir Bruce-alot. Consistency is the key and something the Dockers have been unable to muster but under Lyon that could change. Luck, as always, needs to play a part and I feel Freo can have their say this year but will fall short at the business end. En garde…

Fremantle AFL preview 2013

TomC, I just feel that Freo won’t be going backwards in 2013 and with finals experience in recent years, they could very well step up further.

For me, the fact they have a solid group of guys who have plenty of experience (80-140 games) is a good sign. Clearly just my opinion so open to criticism.

Thanks for the feedback!

Fremantle AFL preview 2013

LK, seeing as the Pies have 38 senior players listed, Hudson can be nominated as a rookie for senior selection as only Ben Johnson is named as one of the two allowed veterans for salary cap reasons I believe. The Pies are likely to do that otherwise they simply would have appointed him as solely a ruck coach and not a player I’d say, however, he will be used to help develop Witts and Grundy. Confusing as he was picked up as a rookie but there is room for him from a squad numbers viewpoint. Doesn’t necessarily have to be a long-term injury for him to play.

Collingwood 2013 AFL preview

Fair assessment from both of you but just feel there are better teams above the Lions. Anything could happen but with the reliance on a number of youngsters, I just feel they may not have the consistency to push on.

Brisbane Lions AFL preview 2013

G’day Matt,

I will be doing all 18 clubs. Adelaide’s preview is up and Brisbane will be later today. Thanks for the comment!

Carlton AFL preview 2013

TomC, I will be doing all 18 clubs. Brisbane will be submitted some time today.

$4.50 definitely is short for a Top 3 Brownlow finish considering it can be a lottery at this time of year but just highlighting how important I think he is to Adelaide.

Cheers mate!
