I found it a little disappointing and surprising to read some Eddie McQuire quotes in The Age this morning that seemed aimed at generating…
Australian Davis Cup Coach Joshua Eagles ‘thinks' Bernard Tomic will probably play at the French Open next week. Todd Woodbridge and Mark Woodforde ‘think'…
On his entertaining Monday Night Football show, Matthew Johns called out the New Zealand Warriors players for their apparent lack of ‘care factor' following…
As a long-time fan, everything that concerns me about current culture at Arsenal Football Club was encapsulated by the celebrations of its players on…
Matt H you’ve nailed it right there.
Nick – can’t you remember when you were 20 yrs old? Did you not make any stupid, embarrassing decisions back then?
Will the real Bernard please stand up
The best enforcers these days are not those with borderline homocidial tendencies but the players who can inflict maximum hurt and intimidation WITHIN the rules.
Backs: Tana Umaga shoulders gave many an opposite centre nightmares (just ask O’Driscoll who never had a good game playing against Tana) and ‘The Chiropractor’ Brian Lima – no-one in their right mind wanted to run directly at them.
Forwards: Jerry Collins and ‘The Seabass’ Chabal.
I’ll never forget Chabal breaking Ali Williams’ jaw in about 3 places – it wasn’t foul play, it was just a brutally tough tackle.
Re Richard Loe – he’s not really a player that Kiwis have ever been particularly proud of. But I did hear Sean Fitzpartick tell a story – after the Paul Carozza incident test (Brisbane?), the ABs management were getting flooded with irate faxes (ppl actually used them back then) from the Aussie public.
Loe read a few, got his hands on a phone book, started ringing people: “Hi this is Richard, no Richard Loe.. Yes, that Richard Loe. I’d like to come around for a cup of tea so we can discuss your letter to me.. Oh you don’t want to..? That’s a shame’
What happened to all the rugby enforcers?
Export Gold or Lion Red – isn’t it the same thing in a different can?
Worse.. would be Waikato Draught
Once were Warriors, now are worriers
I don’t disagree with you Roges.
But the proof will be in the pudding – we will see whether Wenger adds more genuine quality to the squad aka players like Jovetic, Higuain, Isco.. another quality fullback if Sagna goes, maybe another quality fullback anyway.
Fourth place should not be cause for jubilation for Arsenal
I would be one of those people you refer to sitting happily in the middle in life Ed.
But for the powerhouse clubs in the world’s richest, most keenly watched professional competition – participation is not an end in itself.
For them, the EPL is all about winning.
Arsenal are so close to being a genuine title threat. It just seems that Wenger’s frugalness is holding them back. I just pray he loosens his …. a tad & spends the dosh needed to give the team that little bit more quality that is required to go from being a mediocre student to an A level acheiver.
He certainly has the cash at his finger tips.
But no more Gervinhos.. no more Santos’s.. sometimes you get what you pay for.
Fourth place should not be cause for jubilation for Arsenal
Roland Garros is not open at all this year.
Fed is miles off the pace, by his standards. Murray isn’t playing. Ferrer as always will give his all and fall short to one of the top 5 or 6 who all have more firepower and raw ability.
The tournament is blatantly a two horse race. Nadal the hot favourite with Djokovic breathing down his neck.
French Open preview: Men's draw most open in years.
