Maybe this story will end like Franklin and Ross Lyon i.e. he’ll move to a club that no one predicted.

Therefore, I say he’ll move to Essendon next year

I have at least a 5.5% chance of being correct.

Danger, danger, high voltage: Why Dangerfield will remain a Crow

The crowd looked really small on TV and was as if Channel 7 were trying to hide the gaps. What was the crowd number Brent? (and why the poor turnout?)

2015 Doncaster Mile: Racing live updates, tips and results

Sorry Nathan but Fernando Bale it was! Ladbrokes paid $3 which was pretty generous considering on course bookmakers could only offer $2.15.

However, you absolutely nailed Black Bear Lee which paid over $5. Well done.

A tip with a tail for Golden Easter Egg night

You need to use a smaller TV , not those huge 55 inch things as picture quality breaks up. Once game is over they pull the plug immediately! Dont forget that a game will use up about 2GB of broadband, so you’ll need wi-fi (i.e. dont use your phone plan)

I deliberately dont subscribe to Foxtel as I know I watch way too much footy already. The smartphone is a good insurance policy to call up when those non-Sydney Swans “must watch” games pop up that aren’t on free to air (Sydney gets 4-5 free to air games live each week!!)

An AFL ladder pool prediction: The bottom six

I think “banned” can be interpreted as “not interested”. I would like to see what options to respond were available.

For the record, I am “not interested” and hold no opinion whether jumps should be banned or not.

Additionally, the problem jumps have is that every time a horse falls, most people with absolutely no interest in the sport believe it should be banned or couldn’t care less if it was. This is opposed to, say, when 2 of their football club’s players are found to have been abusive to a female etc. All of a sudden, the moral high ground disappears and all excuses in the world (“its not the entire team”) suddenly materialise.

South Australian Jockey Club blames jumps racing for its own demise

Agree partly. Whilst the 4 Corners people are gleeing in their “kill” via social media, they have a role.

BTW lets not forget Animals Australia. 4C is taking all the credit, but the truth is they (AA) were the ones that basically took all the footage and handed it to 4C. They are incredible!

Finally, can everyone hold firm on the industry. There are a significant number of people hurting in the industry that are not guilty, so lets find out the facts as best we can over the coming weeks.

ABC's Four Corners uncovers live baiting in Greyhound racing industry

But then that suggests the baiting is isolated to just a few, no? That is, if the majority were baiting then the trainers they focused on would not be as successful.

Whilst 4 Corners were suggesting that the ones they caught were the only ones baiting, I doubt this is the case.

On another note and silver lining, good training run for his future coaching position over the next few weeks (assuming he’ll be in the coaches box the whole time).

From 1000 miles away I reckon he’d make a very good AFL coach when he retires.

p.s Lemo, please write an article about how the Swans cannot possibly win this year’s flag 😉

Gary Ablett out for the season, and it's all my fault

Hmmmm, your AFL predictions/tipping may turn out to be as good as your gee-gee tipping.

I can’t help but think Swans are about to drop an ‘easy’ game soon. Not too convincing wins against Richmond and WCE recently and carrying a few injuries themselves. I also couldn’t help but think they have too many newcomers in the team now, many of which under performed Sunday, and should have brought O’Keefe back in (prediction: he’ll be back within the next 2-3 games!). They also have PA (away at the Adults Only stadium) and Hawks (MCG) in the next month. Drop both games a top 2 finish is likely over.

The Hawthorn Hawks (why do they never call them this on TV?) still a massive chance, Geelong still in the run and Freo looking good. NM a smokey.

To declare the race “all but over” is a big call that will likely come back to haunt you.

Swans almost a lock for AFL flag

Yes, understand. You’re not missing out on anything with Twitter at least. I still dont understand why it is so popular.

Did you click the links to watch the race replay?

Wentwork Park race caller Paul Ambrosoli set to retire

Max, you should mention that on the wenty park facebook page. Whilst a standard race night, they will be having a farewell event for him this Saturday and giving people the chance to mention these sorts of stories. That one sounds a classic.

Not quIte “BONECRUSHER”, this race call (scroll to bottom of screen) is known as one of his most exciting and apparently the owner/trainer has the call right on the post as his mobile phone ringtone.

Just remember, NOTHING IN IT, NOTHING IN IT!

Wentwork Park race caller Paul Ambrosoli set to retire

Dear Essendon

Don’t take the ban. Keep fighting ASADA.

This will be a nice little distraction for your club throughout 2015 and 2016 as it has been over the past 2 seasons.

Kind regards

SJ

Dear Essendon: Take the ban

Now that COLA is finished, lets move onto the next stupendous “unfair advantage” sulking topic which regards those teams having an unfair home ground advantage, like Hawthorn, when they play in the Grand Final…….

I hear pins dropping in Victoria

Is the AFL's COLA policy unfair?

Hmmm, the old “I heard it in a pub” reference hey Cameron 😉

Notwithstanding, the facts are the other clubs were yelling, the media was reporting and, similar to how the Carbon Tax was going to destroy us all, the people listened and are now complaining.

Once admired, the Swans are now despised

What are “sandropers”?

Is that when George and Mildred are rolling around on the beach?

I think you meant Sandgroper.

Why State of Origin won’t work for the AFL

What about Scully. That would have to surely go down as one of the biggest mistakes in AFL history. The guy could possibly struggle to get a game in some of the top 8 teams, yet is on an amazing $1m per year. He just doesnt seem to do much.

Agree that Patton is looking a bit lost and not living up to his No.1 pick, but remember he has only played a handful of games.

Hopefully they beat the Hawks this week and all of the past 2 weeks will be forgotten.

Giants in the headlines for all the wrong reasons - again

Mission control

“Huston, you have a problem”

The real reasons why footy fans are abusing Adam Goodes

Port look good and they have turned themselves around 180 since Hinkley joined. We understand this and it is repeated week in week out. To suggest the ‘darkest chapter’ has now ended is questionable. I thought it ended last year when they won their first 5 games of the season.

On another note, do you think the SA Tourism Bureau pays Channel 7 commentators to wax lyrical about the stadium and to “come and make a weekend in Adelaide”? Totally agree it is a great stadium (possibly now the best in Australia??) but they just went on and on and on about it all night, even right at the end when Hawthorn started to make a mini-comeback (Richo had to pull them up and remind them a game was on). If it is a ‘cash for comment’ arrangement, it then becomes difficult to determine the truth from the commercials, for example the stadium crowd noise sounding like an English football game and the ‘Carnival atmosphere’.

Fango anyone?

Hawks win completes Port's rise from the ashes

Yes, shaved 1/5 of a second off the record. And you are correct – the milliseconds are worth 0.18m so it shaved about 3.5 metres off the record if that makes sense.

The more interesting thing is the $1m offer after just one race.

BREAKING: Zoustar to be retired

Good point, but you think the thoroughbreds have it bad? Check out this, after just one start http://www.thedogs.com.au/NewsArticle.aspx?NewsId=5044

BREAKING: Zoustar to be retired

I actually don’t mind 7, I don’t mind Dennis or Bruce. Matthew Richardson echoes a bit but I can libe with it.

But there is one thing I wish Channel 7 would do.

SHOW US THE BL**DY SCORE!!!

I don’t mean the points, I mean THE GOALS AND BEHINDS ACTUALLY KICKED!!

Seeing the goals and behinds as opposed to the points changes things completely. We get to understand what the players are really thinking. If you’re playing for the losing side, 8 goals 1 sounds a lot scarier than 6 goals 13. You dig?

Who deserves to broadcast the AFL?

Very funny!

The writer has over reacted just a little. Now lets get his thoughts on the Budget….

Who deserves to broadcast the AFL?

It seemed to me that not many commentators had actually watched the Melb v Adel game. I was shocked that the odds for the Tigers were so tight, but assumed at the time everyone figured they would win on the wave of emotion following the death of Tom Hafey. Melb actually looked good against Adelaide so I figured at least a 30-40% chance of winning the game.

The other team that I think is a little (just a little) underrated are The Western. I’m predicting The Western could cause a couple of upsets in the next few rounds. If I’m right you’ll hear about it from me, and if wrong I’ll never raise it again 😉

The Demons deserve more credit

Yeah I don’t quite agree with that comment Stavros (“how soft was the umpire’). He was seriously injured and vomiting from a head clash, as we could all see and hear from the TV. Bit of sympathy there perhaps.

“The poor form of footy fans booing an injured umpire”

Do you think the umpire booing thing has been a bit overblown. Or perhaps taken out of context??

Firstly, I don’t “boo” myself, but as I argued last year, the “theatre of sport” (and before that the Globe, Collesseum etc) has always included booing and jeering as part of the experience. If you’re arguing against it, then lets argue about the ridiculous culture of watching men play a game with a ball and supporting a team whose player list never remains the same.

Secondly, the booing was an expression of the very poor quality of the umpiring, as I saw it anyway (coming from a Swans supporter). If the umpiring was up to scratch I doubt there would have been any booing.

Finally, I doubt very few of these ‘ferals’ would have been booing had they seen the guy lying in the gutter outside a pub and would have been more than happy to assist. The booing contributed nothing to the poor guys recovery (it hurt his feelings maybe?), so “throwing batteries at nurses” is a ridiculous assumption of what these people get up to after the game.
