I love sport and teams that try to win by playing attacking and positive games. I don't like teams that play not to lose. That is why I am pleased to be an Australian cricket fan and not English.

I’m with you Matth, I like it the way it is. It should absolutely be up to the players to ask for a review and if they’ve been wasteful and greedy then they’ll cop a bad one. Good.
I think the system has shown just how often the umpires get it right and the players get it wrong. Leave it just the way it is.

The Liebke Ratings: First Test Australia vs New Zealand (Part 2)

There’s probably a split hair between a number of the all-rounders when it comes to talent, but what I love about Faulkner is his attitude. He’s the sort of player all the other players would want in the team.
He does seem to have steely nerves and the ability to bat and bowl the way the team needs him to at any given time, which probably goes some way to explaining his less than impressive batting average. He’s not one to bat for himself, but instead will chase runs and sacrifice his wicket for the team when necessary.
And he’s a real competitor, you can see it in his body language and his eyes. He wants to be in the game, he wants to bowl, he wants the ball to come to him in the field and he wants to hit it and hit it hard.
In short you’d love to have him in the trenches with you. Please selectors pick him in the test team.

Peter Nevill is key to Faulkner's Test hopes

PRENTICE: This Sydneysider's dream grand final is Broncos-Cowboys

I’m from the Hunter Valley, support Wests and have had a long history of not liking Queensland one little bit (Wally Sucks).
But I totally agree.
I would love to see those two teams in the GF. I think the Cowboys are the best team to watch in the comp and Brisbane have a steely defence that is very hard to crack.
I just hope that the Cows win; firstly because JT is such a great player and any match he’s involved in is great game to watch, and secondly I struggle to get over my roots and I’d still get some pleasure from seeing Brisbane lose.

Sounds a bit like…Fitzroy. History Repeating?

Lions leaving the den... again?

I loved the article.
Its great to see someone write as close to what they think as they can without getting into too much trouble.
I agree with some of it and not so much with other parts and I just love the assessment of Wayne Bennett, I don’t care if its right or wrong it was great to read, and no I don’t think it has anything to do with the two runners-up trophies that St George got back then.
I think some of the stuff you didn’t say speaks louder than some of the stuff you did say. Especially about the past Newcastle coaches, though I am surprised you didn’t mention their last successful premiership coach Andrew Johns.
Lots of fun Brian Smith, do it again.

SMITHY: What sunk Stone at the Knights (and how to fix it)

Hang on a minute, That makes Mal Meninga an aging Super Hero…sounds about right.

Why Queensland will win the Origin decider

I agree with everything you said except the bit about Queensland winning. Just as an interesting aside, is Michael Morgan the Super Hero in waiting?

Why Queensland will win the Origin decider

Not a bad 11, but what is Watson doing there, personally I say Faulkner, but if had to be M Marsh then so be it; but Watson? Can’t we please move on please.

Voges' spin can earn him Test debut

I’m with Graham on this one. I’ve only really seen Stokes on the last Ashes Tour to Australia and he was one of the very few Englishman who showed any backbone and glimpses of real ability.

Moeen on the other hand I saw a bit of in the ODI World Cup, and while I know its a different game, the skill sets are fairly similar, he did not impress me at all. I couldn’t understand at the time why Stokes wasn’t in that squad. Did he upset someone important?

Then again I really cant fathom why we don’t have James Faulkner in our Test Squad. Faulkner and Stokes strike me as just the sort of competitive scrappers any team would be pleased to have, and the opposition would not be pleased to see them.

No Test team needs two all-rounders

Hey Jeremy Pooley, what great piece. It was just the Vibe. I don’t know if you know George Bailey or have just formed these opinions from afar, but I have formed similar opinions of George Bailey from afar. I just wish he would score more runs so there’d be no excuse to leave him out.

Last year when we played him in 5 tests, and I think he failed in all of them, I was very disappointed, not so much for him because as you say he doesn’t seem to mind so much, but for me, I want George to succeed. He’s the sort of bloke you’d really like to see leading the Australian Cricket Team, and I mean no disrespect at all to Steve Smith, he’s a good’n too.

So well done Jeremy for thinking like me, and writing it down so well.

Oh, and what’s wrong with JT? Wow.

Why are people so unkind? Sticking up for George Bailey

Sorry Neil, but as soon as I read “signings such as Ben Roberts and Luke Gale should ensure another season of entertaining rugby for the Tigers”, I could go no further.
I suppose there could be another Ben Roberts, but if this is the same one that played for Canterbury, Parramatta, and I think Melbourne, then I’m afraid your credibility as a predictor of the Rugby League future is very questionable indeed.

Super League 2015 Predictions

Predictably self-righteous, pious, pretentious,sanctimonious rubbish.
Honestly, this has been going on forever, and I know it suits some to blame it all on the Australians and if that makes you fell a bit more superior that you obviously already do, then do your best.

David Warner is not the issue, political correctness is

Yes, yes, yes and yes.

Australia vs South Africa at the WACA? More of that, thanks!

I certainly hope Matthew Wade has improved…with the gloves in particular.

I was sledging not chatting: Steve Smith

I like the Kiwis, they always punch above their weight, they always play hard but fair. As a nation they have the attitude that if needs to be done they will have to do it themselves. That shows in their sporting teams.
I hope they give it to the Aussies this weekend and I hope they just fall short in a great game that was won by the better team on the day, which in a perfect world will be Australia.

Sure the All Blacks win, but supporting New Zealand is tough

I am defending that philosophy and advocating it as correct, as someone once said;
“Let’s hope the vanquished Brits learn how cricket should be played; from the front making the game, not waiting for your opponent to fail. A good cricket game is to be played boldly, like a good game of Euchre. Make the call, trust your partner and play to win.”
But you must be prepared to lose.

Australia's batting against Pakistan was not "too aggressive"

Agree ferret. These games promise and deliver more attacking play.

The Four Nations is better than Origin

Totally agree. He looks slow, and cumbersome. His work rate was low and he was ineffective. I thought the other forwards really stood up. Papalii needs to lift otherwise he’ll put too much pressure on the other blokes who are doing their job. He’s very lucky to be in the side at all, let alone being promoted to the starting side.

Papalii to start for Roos in Four Nations

Love your ratings. It’s long overdue that someone highlighted the fact that what didn’t happen is sometimes more critical, and often more entertaining, than what did happen.

Pakistan vs Australia second Test: The Liebke ratings (part two)

I totally agree. Do it again Dan.

Pakistan vs Australia ODI: The everything ratings

Steve, It’s a tough gig trying to make predictions. My advice to you is Gamble Responsibly, or in your case not at all!
” in my mind the Sydney Roosters are still the team to beat for the 2014 NRL title” and
“I am confident Canterbury will claim their ninth premiership on Sunday”

TURNER: Maguire the key figure in Souths’ return to days of glory

Shaun Wane?? You only quoted him because you know we all miss reading about Shane Warne, and now I’m thinking about that huge blow up condom.
Well done Steve Mascord, you are an expert.

MASCORD: We love English players, but what about English Rugby League?

I can’t quite work out if this article is serious or seriously sarcastic. Entertaining whatever way it goes.

I'll boo when I wanna boo, thank you very much!
