I managed to find a few old recordings off my TDK C-90’s of Roy & HG commentaries of State of Origins and NRL Grand Finals.
I’ve been in hysterics for so many weeks listening back to them.
Synced up the second half tonight and it was perfect!

Thank God, the festival of the boot is back!

The Seven Network will never allow all three channels to be taken up by Tennis.
As much as it’s a big deal for them, they would still like those viewers who don’t want to watch the tennis to stay on their suite of channels by watching something else (like the Flavorstone advertorial for the 14233th time).

7’s main channel needs to be used solely for Rod Laver Arena action, then once that’s concluded, play other matches.
7Two plays the best of the other courts. And as mentioned on here by a couple of people, use their website as an option to see what’s going on all the outside courts.

Now, this could shut Fox Sports out altogether if they did this.

As unlikely as the Seven Network would be at doing the above, it’s very noticeable how aggressive the FTA networks have been at late of trying to shut out Pay TV in their once tight strangle hold on sports… so maybe, just maybe, they could go for something like this next year?

How Channel Seven's coverage of the Australian Open could be improved

Send them to Bunbury. They’ve just upgraded the facilities in the last 6-12 months and has top-quality floodlights too. So if they want to play day-night Shield games, I and the rest of the town would welcome them with open arms.
They’ve played One Day games here for WA already, so CA… make it so.

Taking cricket to the bush

Complaints about NBL.tv are a little hilarious.
It’s not as if they’re stashed with cash. It’s not as if they have 14 high definition cameras and an amazing graphics department.
No. It’s more like a public access TV station taking the reigns.
I did notice in last week’s Wildcats/Hawks game the past highlights, which was a nice touch.
I assume the Perth games are the one’s that seem to rate. With right reason too (he says with plenty of bias), but it’s live into the East Coast, and there’s plenty of Wildcats fans who’d go home after a big win to watch it again.
Meanwhile, I’ve liked that I can actually get a live feed of the Perth games in WA via the NBL.tv site.

In defence of the NBL's TV deal

As a massive fan of the Hopman Cup, yeah I’m disappointed Djokovic/Ivanovic aren’t returning.
But it seems Djokovic and Ivanovic return every 2 years just to keep things interesting. I’d expect them to be back in 2015.
As for the rest of the tournament, there’s some great rising talent in there (Janowicz, Raonic, Tomic, Stephens)… while Tsonga will be the energetic and entertaining one of the tournament.

Hopman Cup set to suffer without star Serbian duo in 2014

Good overall read. I’d say with all the dramas surrounding Essendon, you’d have to give the season a rating of B- or C.
The slighty ratings dip in Perth is due to Friday night games being covered on 7mate, so some footy fans being confused with the setup.
ANZ Stadium needs to be barred from hosting AFL games, plain and simple.
Meanwhile, as much as the fixturing is unfair or unbalanced… it’s the way the competition will be for many years.
Unless the AFL want to expand down the track to 20 teams, and make it a 19 round season, then inconsistencies will always pop up. Something that will always hang around.

The 2013 AFL report card

And now the premiership medal being presented.

So, there’s nothing really to bring from that in all reality… so that will do it from me for today and the season.

It’s been a very tumultuous season in the AFL. So much talk surrounding the Essendon drugs saga… but what may have been lost in all of that, was the fantastic football played all year. We’ve seen the Cinderella story of Port Adelaide, we saw the rise of the future stars at the Gold Coast, we saw North Melbourne get oh so close on so many times, and we saw a purple haze cross the nullabor in the intense crossing of a country ever seen!

But, it was Hawthorn who were the dominant team all season. They finally stopped the Kennett’s Curse, they savaged every team that came before them. And the most attacking team of the competition managed to hold on to the trophy at day’s end.

Next season kicks off a little earlier, around early March.

On behalf of all the live bloggers that toiled away every weekend across the season, thanks for your interaction throughout the year. It’s a fun little job to have and we enjoy every second of it as well.

So, for 17 teams, they’ve seen what Hawthorn have done, and they want that trophy in their hands next season.

Pre-season training for them would be starting in their minds right now.

And trust us when we say… we cannot wait! See you next season.

If I was to pick one for the Norm Smith Medal, I’d like to see Brian Lake win it… but Jack Gunston’s 4 goals were exceptional today. What about Jordan Lewis as well?

There it is!
A deserving win to Hawthorn… for the season they have had, they had the composure during the opening half and could have run away with the game.
Hawthorn out-Sydney’d Freo?
Quite possibly.
Fremantle did fire back in the third quarter… but Hawthorn’s been there, done that.
Hawthorn win the flag for 2013!

The margin could very well belie the dominance of Hawthorn all season. We forget at times how dominant they have been.
