I might be a bit biased but the atmosphere at Hindmarsh Stadium when it is packed and rocking is hard to beat. The night we beat Bunyodkor in the ACL, with 17,000 fans going boonta, I’ll never forget that night.

Which club has the best home atmosphere?

For a club bereft of any depth due to injury and suspension, this was a marvellous win. Having a cultured number 10 to orchestrate the play for the energetic youngsters is invaluable. Without Flores, the likes of Leckie and Ramsay would have to make their own play thus limiting their opportunities.

Flores is doing what Dodd used to do, only at a higher level right at this moment.

Adelaide down Melbourne Heart 3-2

Such as Sasa Ognenovski does for his father.

Football players let ego get the best of them

A player may or may not be “detaching” themselves from the rest of the team on purpose but to some people (and I stress SOME not all) it smacks of individualism in a team sport. Sure, piling on top of the scorer obscures the shirt and the sponsors logo, but this is more about are you part of a team or are you out for yourself.

Even if you think some players are making a mockery of a celebration by kissing their badge when you know they are probably leaving in a few weeks for a bigger pay check, I would rather that than the absolute disrespect for the club by throwing your shirt away.

Like I said before, your opinion of it is just as valid as mine. It doesn’t offend or bother you, that’s great. But it does bother me.

My thought is that the source of the comment and the source Robbie is protecting, is one and the same – G.A.

Slater versus Kewell feud gets even uglier

I guess my biggest gripe is that you are removing the one thing that identifies you with your team. You are setting your self apart from your team-mates and I fail to see the reason. How does one equate being exhuberant and ecstatic over scoring a goal with having to remove your shirt to run around and celebrate it?

For me the best celebrations are the ones with the whole team, whether they be choreographed or spontaneous. Even when the goal has been from individual piece of brilliance, you are still playing for a team and for the pride in your shirt.

Otherwise you may as well just play by yourself. It’s just my opinion, it’s not necessarily wrong or right.

Football players let ego get the best of them

I agree totally. In my Ronaldo example, HIguain (I believe it was, my memory is not good these days) did all the hard work and all Ronaldo did was tap the ball in, but he ran off celebrating by himself whilst all of his team-mates ran to Higuain to congratulate him on his work.

Promoting yourself as a hero enables you to get more money in the transfer market I guess but as fans of the game, we come to support our TEAM, not just you.

Last weeks Reds v Jets game was just as woefully reffed by Senor Parsons. He is fast overtaking Matthew Breeze as the worst ref in the A-League.

Terrible refereeing in Glory versus Victory

Anyone who bets on the first round of the season either has plenty of money to waste or has an overactive sense of adventure. You just can’t tell who will start well and who won’t, no matter who is in the lineups.

A-League preview for Round 1

We played well last season but the inability to score from the good play was ultra frustrating. How many goal mouth scrambles resulted in no goals. Seriously, we must have had a dozen balls cleared from the six yard box when it was easier to score. I just hope we can turn that around, and with SVD on board I like our chances.

Thanks for reading mate and we will continue to keep the faith.

Can the Reds be an A-League force again?

Thanks for the feedback guys. Hopefully it will be a fruitful season unlike the last one. The only way is up at the moment though. I will look into that 442 thing. Might be good. Thanks.

Can the Reds be an A-League force again?

To be a sports official you have to have an ability to stick with your decision and believe it is right even in the face of players howls of protests. You cannot second guess your self or you will be useless out there.

However you must possess the courage to admit that you got a call wrong when you are faced with evidence of your mistake. This was not a judgement call, this was clear cut. And Jim Joyce immediately admitted he got it wrong and he had cost Galarraga big time.

If more referees around the world and Australia were allowed to and had the courage to admit their mistakes, I believe the respect level from players and fans would increase markedly. But here in Australia as a player or coach you can’t criticise umpires and the umpires cannot come out and explain their decisions and/or admit they got them wrong. It’s ok for the Umpires Boss to come out and explain decisions but you really want to hear it from the umpire themselves.

It creates a bad feeling between players and officials that needs to be addressed but sadly will not be any time soon.

An imperfect game produces a perfect result

Thanks a lot. Glad you enjoyed it.

An imperfect game produces a perfect result

Thanks Tristan. I heard on Sportscenter that the shortest time between three perfect games was around 1400 days, just over four years. As you say this would have been the third this year. Pitching is making a comeback after years of being belted around by gigantic hitters.

Both participants in this story have proven themselves to be classy individuals. Can’t ask for more than that.

On the contrary I am a Villa fan. But I do like Dids so I give him a lot more slack than CR. He does dive a bit though.

Looking at the World Cup's Giant Group G

I think the Kiwi goal was poor defending but no-one has really mentioned that Smeltz seemed to get a slight touch on the cross that took it over Moore’s head. Not really Craig’s fault. Terrible goalkeeping from Federici though. He managed to make himself tiny and exposed the far post. How he is better than Galekovic is beyond me.

Beauchamp should be starting at the WC, he is a gun.

Socceroos unconvincing and running out of time

And Takeshi Okada had a TV show called Takeshi’s Castle? 🙂

But I do take your point. I seriously read somewhere he was in the squad. And I couldn’t use my horse face line if he wasn’t. 🙁

Group E is for Excellent at the 2010 World Cup

They have edited some of my jokes out. To see the unedited version go to www.todayinsport.net.

I had a good one about Sylvester Stallone in there. 🙂

Group D is for Death at the 2010 World Cup

I enjoyed all the friday night games Adelaide had, despite the scoreline most nights. There was a big crowd and a good atmosphere and made me buy a membership. I will buy another one this season as well, because i know (hope) this season will be better.

New A-League draw a mixed bag for clubs and fans

I didn’t want to go too crude and vulgar. This is a family internet after all. 🙂

But you’re right, I missed the opportunity there. C’est la vie.

2010 World Cup preview - Group A

The Reds style of play, counter attacking, leads to good results. Too often the other A-League sides have gone at these games like a bull at a gate and end up being exposed by disciplined passing and creativity as they race back trying to defend. The more our teams remain stubborn and inflexible, the more they will fail.
