It's about time we got some sports highlights shows

As a fan of most sports (either televised or not), I am getting more and more concerned that those of us who don’t have pay television are getting less access to coverage of games.

Radical ideas to improve the appeal of 13 different sports

I've devised a cunning plan for penalties. They can only be drop goals for offences outside the 22 taken in the same time frame as a kick for touch (if successful, followed by a 22 drop out), and a 5m scrum for offences inside the 22. This will gift a good attacking side, but allow a gifted defensive side to even out the dubious penalties. Also more yellow cards for professional fouls (possibly with a place kick/penalty try variant), with a call upstairs if necessary to clarify.

Carlos Tevez, can you please go home?

To be fair to him it must be quite hard to save up a few pounds a week to fly his family over? They could even live in Spain, where they would have no language issues, and Carlos could jump on an easyjet flight every few days to say hello to them... Maybe he's only playing to set himself up for retirement (owning racehorses no doubt)

Australian conference report card: better late than never

I suppose if Smith/Nonu get back into form and fitness in time, its just another case of a club combo paying off! My point was that we are no different to the SA situation. Looking at the players to have played for the Wallabies in 2009-10, there are 46 names (Reds:11, Waratahs:13, Brumbies:12, Force:8, Rebels:1) - which shows a very similar disparity to the SA list, and I'd think also the NZ teams (can't be bothered working it out). It would seem that each conference has a big two or three, where the bulk of the international representation comes from, and the rest are "battler" teams. Where Australia is losing out this season is that the battlers aren't doing well - not compared to the highlanders and the cheetahs anyway. An interesting aside is that of the 142 caps held by the 11 Reds players, 112 were earnt in 2009-10 - does this mean they've finally gone from battler to big gun?
