Nice Article Phil,
Loved the run of The United States in the last looks to have plenty of abillity and a race like the Naturalism Stakes would suit. Wouldnt be dropping off Sacred Falls always runs his worst race of the prep 1st up and happy to have a nibble at Bull Point on a dry track next time he was really good from the back in the Show County. What a spring weve got coming up cant wait for the Memsie on Saturday what a race that promises to be but the undercard looks just as good the BM78 1200m could throwout a good horse or 2 going forward and the Heatherlie Handicap has attracted some great noms including Sea Moon and Araldo both could be players come cup time. Spring time is here

Saturday 23/08 Review: Horses to watch this Spring

What a cracking race the Missile is. Rebel Dane looks the one to beat he’s 1st up form is excellent and he has got A group 1 win to his name something Sweet Idea, Thump or Messene don’t for that fact alone had him on top. Very Interested to see how Laser Hawk attacks the line and how the Waller horses get home. Down in Melbourne Tiger Tees just should be too good.

2014 Missile Stakes preview

Im on board Unpretentious.
Make you sure listen in to caseyradio.com.au at 6.05am to hear Nikki Burke talk about her stable star.

The Tapestry Wines Goodwood preview

Signoff at Bendigo was ultra impressive.
Looks on target for better things.
Lankan Rupee form just keeps looking better surely if he’s at his best nothing in the Challenge will beat him.

2014 Challenge Stakes: Live updates, preview, top tips and results

Hi Justin ,
Great Advice.
Last year I led the Roar Star Stable for 3 weeks before a bad cox plate had my stable in tatters.
I thought this years lot of cheapies is atrocious I too found myself selecting Teronado and Holy Cow.
Something the Tab could look at doingto improve the game should be price decreases from previous games like for Mourayan , Green Moon and those sorts of horses who didn’t perform last season similar to Supercoach when a veteran gets past his best.
All and all should be acompetitive 7 weekslooking forward to it

The Ultimate Guide to winning Star Stable

Hi Sam,
Great Article , I must agree I think Damian Browne is without a doubt one of the best riders in the country and can deliver a great ride in a big race , I hope he gets some more opportunities on some of the better gallopers heading into the autumn.

Personally I love watching Noel Callow punch a winner home or Nash Rawiller because of their vigourous style to get the winner home.

Outside of the professionals Adam Bodey Victoria’s leading picnic racing rider for 13 years is a man I’d happily have my hard earned on anywhere watch this ride at Woolamai Picnics called by myself http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ysqBMKLy16M

Is Browne Australia's best jockey?

Justin I’d put my tips in writing but you might as well just listen my phantom call on Radio Sport National or Sky Sports Radio http://www.rsn.net.au/audioplayer/1383516670.mp3

2013 Melbourne Cup: Preview and top tips

Thought Moudre was a great chance in the Naturalism Stakes at genuine odds for a horse that ran 3rd behind Foreteller and PDL last start.
Hawkspur looks home for Jimmy’s 100th in the George Main. Going around Guelph in the Tea Rose .
Bec Said No Credit will just win the 1st at Caulfield and a running double with Shamal Wind in the 2nd too.
Villa Verde should be very hard to beat in the 3rd.
The Underwood is just a great race with a host of chances , Dont think AJ is over the line just yet . Would love to see something run them along out in front at a real good click like My Quest For Peace or Ethiopia and maybe the old timer Manighar.

What a great day of racing.

Underwood and George Main Stakes preview

Has everybody forgot about Samaready she was simply awesome and has allot of improvement to come over.
Still can’t believe a last start group winner went around at almost 50-1 with some bookies ,Va Pensiero !!!

Atlantic Jewel: New world champion

Nice piece Justin.
Couldnt agree more with what’s already been said especially regarding Drago he’s an exciting type.
Additional comments from the weekend
I thought Gregers was very good and has alot of improvement to come , The Huntress was also very good in that race.
Tuscan Fire is still ticking along nicely but is in need of the 2000m now.
Durnford was one many probably didnt notice but he ran out of his skin over 1000m in a decent listed race for a horse that will be suited at 2400m , Pat Carey is a great trainer of stayers so he’s one to keep in the black book.
Whilst yesterday at Swan Hill a very promising horse emerged at his 1st start from the powerful Llyod Williams stable called Tabloid he was super impressive at a mile another to watch.

Can’t wait for this Saturday Memsie Stakes and Run To The Rose plus a non-tab cup warm up at Berrigan.

Stacked Spring Carnival shaping up - Cox Plate and the Cups

No doubt he’s got serious talent EricBloom and good luck to you at the price 🙂

Horses to follow for spring (part 1)

Couldnt agree more Andrew , A Hobart or Mornington Cup would certainly suit Prince Of Penzance

Horses to follow for spring (part 1)

Best chaser Australia’s seen in some time .
Be interesting to see what happens to him now

Bashboy jumps into history books

Can’t agree with you here, I don’t see how making hundreds of people ruin their livelihoods just for the greater good of the punter .
Yes a big base like Geelong looks good on face value because that and Colac are the only racecourses in that area.
Use a different scenario say Ballarat becomes the only training centre in the western region tracks like Stawell , Ararat , Donald , Great Western , St Arnuad and Horsha just become nothing . Out of those tracks only 2 are used as training centers Stawell and Horsham the trainers who use those tracks include Terry O’Sullivan who is one of the top trainers in the State and has trained 2 group 1 winners in the last 10 years as well as Dolphin Jo and Exceptionally. So the results are proven that you don’t need state of the art facillities to train winners and as far as crowds are concerned for Midweek provincial meetings you get the same at Geelong on a Tuesday as Ararat on a Monday so crowds wouldntchange anyway .
In conclusion just does not see the bigger picture not everything should come down to what the Punters want.

Super facilities are the future of country racing

Great read Andrew.
Fascinated to see if Metal Bender stands up to the work would be some training performance if he won another Group 1.

An analysis of Group 1 winners: who's left?

Love seeing that Vo Rogue made the list .
One of my personal favourites

The Roar’s top 50 Australian racehorses of all-time (Part 8) 40-36

As johno said you wouldn’t fancy them to win 6 of those games.
Can’t see them winning the flag

Can West Coast Eagles still win the flag?

Found it interesting to see the Big O in front of Saintly. Personally always regarded Saintly As a better horse.
Loving the countdown though and that some horses from way back get mentions never really knew anything about horses like Eurythmic , Malua and Amonius.
Have to ask where a horse like Red Anchor fits won the VRC Derby and Cox Plate then got injured and retired to stud won the 1984-85 Horse Of the Year too if only he didn’t get injured .

The Roar’s top 50 Australian racehorses of all-time (Part 6) 30-26

Loved the point about how Bossy has won some of his group 1’s it was a really good insight.
Agree with the party crowd atmosphere at Rosehill being there on Saturday there seemed to much emphasis that it was an social gathering, the party before the parties sort of thing. They really should advertise the Racing and the horses more than the Day at the races.
I didnt see one Ad on BC next week when in Sydney , where as they flog it when she’s racing in Melbourne just saying.

Gai in everything, including MJ blunder on Golden Slipper Day

It was a good day’s racing no doubt.
I think Fivenandahalfstar is the one to beat in the ATC Derby agree with Cam though the Pumper would suit him better than Bowman.
Some good noms thrown down to verse BC like Buffering , Sea Siren , Rain Affair , Hay List and Bel Sprinter if they all turn up it’ll be a ripper.
Thought Gai’s comment on Pierro was a little ridiclous though ” best horse australia has seen in 50 years” give me a break , He’s not even the best horse this year.

Gai in everything, including MJ blunder on Golden Slipper Day

Arguably it wasn’t Nash’s best ride and I agree with most of the points made.
Though he usually has her 3rd or 4th in the run and usually he gets crossed.
He made the wrong choice going for the run between Streama and Spirit Song as the run had already closed b4 he was halfway through the horse ran a mighty race and I think you can back her next start with confidence

Golden Slipper Day 2013: What happened, Nash?

The card is a ripper and the favourites look to be the winners.
Though this day often throws out a couple of rough results like last years George Ryder when Metal Bender.
Or the endless times we’ve seen a knock out blow in the BMW.
My Tips
R1 Lights Of Heaven
R2 Its just too wide
R3 Phillipi
R4 Norzita
R5 Fiveandahalfstar
R6 More Joyous
R7 Villa Verde
R8 Pierro
R9 Second Effort
There all pretty short but I think it’ll be a day where the favs dominate

Golden Slipper Day Group 1 preview

Great Article Justin
Going to my 1st Golden Slipper on saturday , What a cracking bunch of horses are set to race to.
It should be a great day

Golden Slipper Day: Pure racing with five Group 1s

Good Article Justin.
The top 5 is prettty good others worth some admiration is Terry Bailey’s version of the Australia Stakes with Miss Andretti in 2007, Rick McIntosh’s call of the Grand Annual Steeplechase last year is extraordinary, Greg Miles 2005 Melbourne Cup ” A champion becomes a legend” and Bryan Martin’s call of 2006 Cox Plate where his own horse wins the race.
I know there all Victorian Callers but there all pretty good calls.
Though if I had to nominate The Best Caller Ive ever meet it would be Greg Miles , The amount of work he puts in before the race is run amazing and the way he goes about it is quite extraordinary. It’s no wonder he has called so many great races.
Im not old enough to have meet Bill Collins but he is what every aspiring racecaller wants to remembered like when they hang up the binoculars.
Of the next batch of callers I would say Matt Jackson , Brendan Delaney and Ben Sporle fom Victoria can all hold in latter years a number 1 callers position and Luke Marlow ( Latest Sky Racing Scholarship winner) , Matt Hill , Josh Fleming and Mitch Manners can all be great callers in the near future.

The top five race calls of all time

To true Dan only have to look at the other top mares offspring to show that she’s not set to have a good breeding career , Though every horse is different and her family just keeps throwing out group class horses so she could be the exception.
