Scottish Rugby has done more for grassroots in the last decade than ARU will ever do in a thousand years.
The SRU’s nationwide (*repeat nationwide) “School of Rugby” programme has deliberately targeted non-traditional Rugby areas, especially the working class estates of Glasgow which is traditionally obsessed with football.
You see, the SRU are making an effort to engage with the grassroots across the country. They are willing to engage with the working class, not traditionally associated with Rugby.
The SRU realised it required people of all backgrounds (not just wealthy public school families) for the sport to thrive.
That is why the Scottish Rugby is so strong. The national team’s performance is simply the reward.
