Rugby Tragic, Highlanders is my team

I feel bad for Rennie but maybe it is a blessing in disguise. People (RA) seem to forget how Eddie departed the last time that he coached the Wallabies and his cattle and resources are a lot less than what he had then. Rugby Australia I think that you have made a grave mistake on this one. IMHO

'Major coup': Rennie axed with Eddie Jones returning as Wallabies coach on mammoth deal for two Cups

The time wasting debate will go on forever until World Rugby decides to do something about it. For me it simply boils down to the fact that the number 10 player for the Wallabies ignored at least five directives from the referee to kick the ball and so suffered the consequences. Thank you number 10 you certainly helped save our bacon….

Bernard Foley and a brief history of time wasting in rugby

Like in my comments below: Does Rennie have the right support staff around him seeing as he can’t pick his own?

Is Rennie the problem, or is it the cattle?

My two cents worth: All the head coaches in the rugby world get to to pick their assistant coaches except Rennie. We saw with Foster that he was able to replace two of his assistant coaches who weren’t performing with much improved results. What options does Rennie have or is he potentially hamstrung with what he is given? I realise that there can be some cattle supply issues but it is the assistant job to get them singing from the same song sheet.

Is Rennie the problem, or is it the cattle?

Foster was the All Blacks attack coach in the Hanson area and by all accounts did a pretty good job. This change in coaching staff gives me hope…

Rugby News: Foster says player backing 'loud and clear', BOD backs Schmidt before RWC, Cane 'not good enough for Italy'

I fear that the Trans Tasman results will be pretty much the same as last year. The Aus and NZ sides have played to different levels of intensity during the competition so far but I just can’t see the Aus sides ramping up their intensity three fold at the flick of a switch and then maintaining that level for six more games plus playoff’s.
They only way around this problem is from next year have a full intergrated comp which would only benifit all teams in the long run.
I certainly don’t mind bering proved wrong as rugby on both sides of the ditch need each other more than ever…IMHO

Rugby News: Nic White considers massive bid by Japanese raiders, ABs winger says NRL a 'life goal', Cane talks up Aussies

Last year in the 3rd test Aussie brought the “Niggle” and it worked. I noted that in the test yesterday they did the same but the AB’s didn’t react (as much) this time. My point being, the AB’s learned their lesson but Australia forgot theirs. Last point, “Don’t poke the bear unless you know how to handle the fallout”

MATCH REPORT: Rennie's Wallabies sent out to go big or die trying - it was the latter

First and foremost, I am a Kiwi tragic. That being said a couple of suggestions that could help things along for the Australian franchises.
The Western Force (I believe) have a dispensation to bring in extra overseas players. This has worked really well for them and has also got the local community in behind them as well; maybe the other four franchises could have the same disposition.
Australian Rugby was at its strongest when they only had three teams in the comp. As we are never going back there again then maybe RA should be investing in better skill coaches and strategists’ it will only give confidence and improvements in their systems.
And lastly, why not throw a few teams (if at all possible) in the NZ NPC comp. I am sure that RA and NZR could come up with something especially from the Eastern Seaboard; this could actually prove more popular than than the Super Rugby Trans-Tasman Comp and help develop the younger players coming through the systems.
Look, I’m sure this this has been discussed a million times before but I love my rugby and I would hate to see the game destroyed by pigheadedness; rugby is a game to be enjoyed by all…..IMHO

Six talking points from Super Rugby Trans-Tasman, Round 2

What NZ can do for the last test is leave out the players that need to be home with their families for Christmas and replace them with their second stringers. They have nothing to lose by doing that but Australia will have everything to lose if the AB’s win….

New Zealand Rugby unhappy as SANZAAR releases 2020 Rugby Championship draw

If you read Izzy’s post in full he covers all of us in every walk of life not just one demographic of society. But what are people latching onto? Yeah just one small piece of the whole message and then try to define him with it. Izzy is a deeply religious man no more or less than people of the Muslim faith whose beliefs are just as well known and publicized and practiced. Why are they not ostracized like Izzy? We either condemn / criticize him for the whole message and others like him or we respect his right to free speech and his choice of religious practice; if not, it is us who are the real hypocrites….

Rugby union would be a more inclusive, kinder place without Israel Folau and his backwards views

Maybe Quade is now playing his best rugby because of his sacking instead in spite of his sacking. I remember when Hammet took over the Hurricanes, he culled three Alblacks; Nonu, Weepu & Hore. They went on to play better rugby for the Alblacks and Hammet laid the the foundation for a more successful Hurricanes franchise. I’ll back Brad on this one….

Not just another game as Quade aims to flip Brad the bird

Not a Blues fan but!!!! Write them off at your peril…

A not-too-early look at Super Rugby 2019: Part 2

Has anyone asked the Islamic Council what their thoughts are on this issue?
“Oh No, lets not go there”.
My point being that we knew what Izzy’s views were but we still had to ask..
Who are the real judgementalists here?…

Israel Folau's confusion proves good intentions are no match for bad ideas

The unintentional extremist: Israel Folau, the Bible and Homophobia

Trying to emulate the Kiwi version of Scott Robertson me thinks.
But seriously, some players do have the midas touch when it comes to coaching teams, my only only fear being that they try and fast track him (Brad Thorne) to the Wallibies. Our national team is being coached by one hit wonders at the moment, win one one Super Comp and Hey Presto you are suddenly the National coach.
Brad will do well though but only as long as Australian Rugby can keep pace with him….
