No O'Keefe gives Swans the edge
It’s hardly irrational. If I had a bad experience at a Woolworths store, I’d be less inclined to shop at that Woolworths — or any other Woolworths — again. Especially as there is numerous other alternatives (Coles, IGA) just around the corner for me.
Rather than victim blaming, lets focus on the real issue here – we have ZERO room in our game for these thugs. Hopefully they are identified and banned accordingly.
The FFA Cup brought out the best and worst of football
I don’t want to be THAT guy, coz I agree with your sentiment. But I think Aaron Mooy did at the East Asian Cup? So last year.

Carlisle can be the AFL's best forward
past coaches had a very different qualifying path – effectively having 4 years to prepare for a single two-legged playoff.
Postecoglou gives Australia a sense of belonging to something bigger
Am I the only cynic that has a sneaking suspicion that FIFA can’t afford a World Cup final that doesn’t involve Brazil?
Can Brazil replicate Les Bleus' home success without a world class striker?
Ah Johnno. It is better to remain silent and be thought a fool, than to speak out and remove all doubt.

One thing we can look forward to in the Asian Cup is a slight tweak in Ange’s system. Rather than playing two pressing mids (in this morning’s case Jedi and McKay) and one a bit further up the pitch (Bozanic), I’d expect a single defensive midfielder paired with two playmakers.
Just who that will be, I’m not even sure it is worth guessing at this point. Ange has made it clear that match fitness is a priority under his regime — which I think means a whole lot more potential Socceroos will be moving this transfer window in pursuit of first team football. 6 months is plenty of time for anyone to work their way into contention — especially with the amount of players that were ruled out of this World Cup due to injury.
It’s entirely plausible that a third of our 23 players in Brazil may not even be taken to the Asian Cup.
Socceroos wilt in possession, suffer the pain of Spain's passing game
Harry had the talent, Timmy had the endeavour.
Just as I’d pick Steve Waugh to bat for my life, I’d pick Cahill every time.
Is Tim Cahill really our greatest Socceroo?
Hold on, Mike Tuckerman doesn’t play for the Socceroos?!?
Socceroos wilt in possession, suffer the pain of Spain's passing game
Agreed. I’m not even sure if some are watching the same Socceroos games as me.
Socceroos wilt in possession, suffer the pain of Spain's passing game
I agree that Jedi’s passing is poor, but he is definitely in our first XI. No other Australian can match his defensive presence in midfield.
The debate should not be about if he should be selected, but how he is used. Personally, I think he has the Makelele/de Jong role written all over him = a midfield enforcer whose longest pass should be no more that 5m, paired with deep-lying playmaker.
The question is – who steps into that playmaker role once Bresh is done?

I’ll take the bet. The Villa story will lead the Sports bulletin in at least 1 capital city.
Lock it in Eddy.

BREAKING: Melbourne Heart change name to Melbourne City, sign David Villa
Duff has been touted, but not confirmed.
It’s also not known if he will be the marquee or fit in within the cap. As the other club he was linked with is Sligo Rovers, there is hope that Duff can take up an international spot, but not the marquee.
BREAKING: Melbourne Heart change name to Melbourne City, sign David Villa
I’m not sure if you ever read Australian Rules’s posts past his moniker? He’s clearly as much of a football fan as anyone here, and when he does have criticisms — and we all do — he back them up with reasonable arguments.
Believe it: Australia CAN beat Spain
hahaha I can see the headlines now.
“Spain happy with scoreless draw against Socceroos
Vicente del Bosque looked pleased with the result, noting that none of his players had been injured. “Our physios were the true winners today.”
We're crap and we know it, so just enjoy the Socceroos ride
Middy I’m usually the first agree with you, but I’m not with you on the Offsiders example. SOO was clearly the biggest sporting event in Australia last week and deservedly led. The fact that a Socceroo training session got airtime at all is encouraging…
Football the key to disarming Qatar’s most dangerous weapons
I don’t want to re-ignite the “which league is better” debate, but what are you basing your judgement of the Austrian Bundesliga off? Admittedly, I haven’t watch any Austrian league games, but I watched all of Austria Vienna’s CL games and they looked like an excellent side.
Transfermarkt, which may not be the most reputable source in the world – but it’ll do, rates the average market value of A-League teams at just under 8 million euro. It rates the average market value of an Austrian Bundesliga team at just under 16 million euros.
I love the A-League, and it is clearly getting better every year. But if I had the choice of a 25yo Aussie playing regularly for a team like Vienna, or a team like the Newcastle Jets, I would choose Vienna every day of the week.
Stuttered Socceroos means more head-scratching for Aussies
