Entertaining game. Lots of drama. Regardless of whether it gets the calls right or wrong, VAR sucks.

Would of liked to see both McGree and Champness on earlier. Roy still looks underdone.

Ernies reaction to Nabout’s goal was priceless, the Wayne Bennett of the A-League

This, I like.

FFA should learn from Van Marwijk and stick to the actual football

The best stirrer gotta be that nemesis bloke right?

Not only does he get other football heads offside, he even got afl fanboys here looking for him.

Journo doesn’t ask about his name because he’s ignorant.

Journo asks a stupid question to bait the coach, see how he reacts, test his temperament.

There’s not much of a story if the coach just gives sensible answers to sensible questions, these guys are just looking for hot takes.

As a Jets fan I gotta object to the notion no team has loyal fans.

Newcastle haven’t made the finals (ie the top 60% of the comp) since 09/10. We’ve had the Con years, the Tinkler fiasco, thee FFA and now Martin Lee as owners. We’ve had coaches sacked twice only weeks before season opener. We’ve had marquees turn up injured, or unfit. We’ve survived the Stubbins era.

But all that’s ok, that’s football. And we still have about 9000 supporters who will turn up every game, even in the flogging rain. That’s not bad for a small working class city.

Agreed, nothing like a good fish n chippers.

I must confess, I don’t mind a humble dogs eye myself.

But it’s gotta be from some shabby little bakery, with no eftpos , served in a white paper bag and with a choccy milk for preference.

Frozen brand rubbish can F right off.

Pie wars > code wars

New year, same old baffling A-League fixture list

True, but neither is Brazil, and I wouldn’t call their love of their national sport irrelevant either.

Look I get your initial point, it’s hard to compete against competitions that have been around for over a hundred years. So let’s not bother to do so. I’d much rather we concentrate on doing our own thing than taking shots at other sports (many if which I also enjoy).

Geez add in Pakistan and Bangladesh and that’s a hellavalotta people you’re calling irrelevant.

Any sensible points you may have made here are completely overshadowed by your belief that Maccas is food

Why Sydney FC's dominance is good for the A-League

I’m not up on my Victree/Pissants history but how are they the ‘Original Derby’?

Jets/Mariners rivalry kicked off in 05 when Nick Mrdja absolutely mugged Durante in a pre-season.

Credit where it’s due tho, at least you called it its true name F3. Roads change names. Derbies don’t.

Why Sydney FC's dominance is good for the A-League

After Stubbins, Miller and Jones, no-one in Newy was hoping for a fresh Aussie coach with NPL success.

Trust me on that.

Tapped Out reference Stuart?

Jets have 6-7 blokes out this week, I think we’ll struggle.

The Roar’s A-League expert tips and predictions: Round 9

Totally agree that the sudden death stuff creates more interest.

I disagree with the idea that most people think we should qualify easily. In fact it’s often the opposite, a lot of people no longer think we’re good enough. Winning big games like this one goes a fair way in rectifying that pessimism and restoring a bit of pride.

Cahill saves the day again, Australia keep World Cup hopes alive

Yeah credit to their supporters they definitely brought a lot of noise.

Gotta question why we play Syria in Sydney though given how many ex-pats they have there. Would have given their players a massive leg up.

I still calls it the F3 Derby, stuff the bureaucrats.

Good read though Stuart. Sister in laws are a curse to us all, haha.

My dirty little football secret

This is a nail biter alright…

Btw what knucklehead decided to hold the Syria game in the Oz city with the biggest Syrian population?

Socceroos vs Syria: World Cup Qualifier highlights, live scores, blog

Cheers mate hope you’re right! I know we’ve only played one game but it seems like;

We have a coach playing blokes in their best positions, and trying to win games instead of stamping his ‘philosophy’ on he club.

We have players who are no only of a decent level but have played with some mongrel and belief.

This is all new to me. Can’t possibly last too long.

Round 1 of the A-League was so cliché

Aaaaahhhh so this is what hope feels like. Feels good.

Go the Jets.

Had a great pre-season. Good to see him perform in the big stage
