The Brisbane Football Club, known as the Lions, is a Brisbane based team participating in the AFL. In July 1996 the Brisbane Lions Football club was formed after the AFL allowed the Brisbane Bears and the Fitzroy Lions to merge. Since 1996, the lions have won three premierships in consecutive years and have featured in another where they fell to Port Adelaide.
