IPL
The Indian Premier League is an eight team Twenty20 Cricket competition which experienced its inaugural season in 2008. Before the tournament began, every IPL team was summoned to a player auction in order to form its roster for the coming season. Indian batsmen/Wicketkeeper Mahendra Singh Dhoni is currently the highest paid player in the IPL, receiving a contract with the Chennai Super Kings worth 1.5 million dollars a season. Although with a modest budget of 63 million dollars, the Rajasthan Royals are the maiden IPL champions, thanks mainly to the guidance of former Australian great spinner Shane Warne.
