NRL Grand Final 2011

The NRL Grand Final 2011 will be played between Manly Sea Eagles and New Zealand Warriors on Sunday, October 2nd at ANZ Stadium in Sydney.

The NRL bowed to fan demands in 2008 to play the Grand Final in the afternoon and the NRL Grand Final kickoff will be at 5.20pm

Manly Sea Eagles progressed through to the NRL Grand Final after seeing off North Queensland Cowboys and Brisbane Broncos, while the New Zealand Warriors overcame a 40-10 defeat at the hands of the Broncos to defeat West Tigers and Melbourne Storm to make the NRL Grand Final.

The match will be watched by over 80,000 spectators at ANZ Stadium and more than 2 million on television on the broadcaster of the NRL Grand Final, Channel Nine.

Manly will start a warm favourite in the NRL Grand Final at $1.50, with the Warriors clear outsiders at $2.50 despite their momentum.

by Bonco - February 22nd 2012 @ 2:52am

Most of the time when rugby league experts try to guess each team’s ladder position at the beginning of the year they end up looking like amateurs. Given my amateur footy status I am happy to have a crack. I have tried to hide my bias in regards my club and the clubs I hate [...]

When the NRL GF rematch lives up to the hype

by Fletcher_Celand - December 30th 2011 @ 6:42am

With the NRL draw released last week it got the taste buds tingling for the greatest game of all – right at the height of summer when distractions of pools, barbecues and cricket are oh-so tempting. At the end of this year’s Grand Final, you could cut the tension with a knife as Brett Stewart and David Gallop came face to face for the first time since Stewart was suspended at the beginning of the 2009 season. No one was quite sure what to think. The facial expressions showed some animosity, [...]

There’s no axe to find for the Stewart brothers

by Jonathan Healy - October 4th 2011 @ 4:29am

Can we please stop applauding Brett and Glenn Stewart for their varying feats of mediocrity? Firstly, Brett Stewart is one of the best, if not the best, finishers in rugby league. He is helped by playing behind an excellent team but nonetheless he is a great try-scorer. However, the plaudits he’s received for his supposed [...]

NRL Grand Final 2011: Player ratings

by Ryan O'Connell - October 3rd 2011 @ 1:38pm

It’s been a long couple of seasons for the Sea Eagles, with plenty of drama and off-field issues. But today they find themselves on top of the rugby league world as the 2011 NRL premiers. The Warriors can hold their heads high. They didn’t play their best game, and they were certainly on the wrong [...]

Manly make peace after Grand Final war

by Luke Doherty - October 3rd 2011 @ 7:09am

So, the war is over. Glenn and Brett Stewart, both very publicly, decided to bury the hatchet with NRL chief executive David Gallop in the moments after last night’s NRL Grand Final. When Glenn Stewart took to the stage to have the Clive Churchill medal placed around his neck he made his way along a long [...]

NRL Grand Final 2011: Manly win

by Tristan Rayner - October 2nd 2011 @ 7:33pm

The Manly Sea Eagles have won the NRL Grand Final in 2011, beating the New Zealand Warriors 24-10 in a tight tussle, with Manly up 12-2 at half-time. The Warriors scored twice in the second-half to close the gap but their ambitious play resulted in too many errors as they struggled to exert consistent pressure. [...]
