The NSW Blues team was announced on Sunday, 26th June by coach Ricky Stuart, and is as follows:

Trent Merrin was dropped by Stuart, replaced by Keith Galloway who will make his Origin debut.

– Star performer on debut Will Hopoate will miss Origin III, suffering a hamstring tear in game 2.

– Queensland halfback Johnathan Thurston was in judiciary trouble after being charged with making contact with referee Matt Cecchin in the North Queensland Cowboys’ win over the Warriors. Thurston was charged with a grade 2 offence, but appealed to the judiciary.

The judiciary sat on Wednesday night and deliberated for 50 minutes before declaring Thurston not guilty, allowing him to play Round 16 in the NRL and State of Origin.

– Queensland forward David Taylor was charged by the NRL Match Review committee with a grade 2 dangerous throw – which has resulted in him missing the Origin decider with five weeks suspension dished out for the tackle.

Mal Meninga admitted his friendship with Ricky Stuart has been an Origin casualty after a war of words between the ex-Canberra Raiders teammates.

Queensland and New South Wales are locked at one-game all in the best of three series.

What happens if Origin game 3 is a draw?

While previously a draw retained the series for the reigning team, the game will go into golden point extra time to decide a winning team.
