Rugby Sevens
Rugby sevens, with seven players a side instead of the usual 15, originated in Melrose, Scotland. The Melrose Sevens is still played every year.
Amateur and club tournaments are played during summer, but the game is played at all levels, including international competitions such as the Rugby World Cup Sevens and IRB Sevens World Series.
The game is also played at the Commonwealth Games, and will be played at an Olympic level for the first time at the 2016 Olympic Games, following a vote by the International Olympic Committee (IOC).
