Seven’s Olympic coverage beyond a joke

The Australian Opals basketball team achieved a major milestone in their campaign for gold yesterday, beating Russia in an exciting come-from-behind victory to reach the semi-finals. But while our Aussie girls were competing for their country, Channel Seven’s Olympic broadcast was dumped for the AFL.

Boomers still the hunt for medal

The Boomers have copped a bit of flack lately for their performance on the court. Apparently nobody told the likes of Mills, Barlow or Bogut, all combining well in the opening minutes of the game against the European Champions, Russia.

Up until Wednesday morning, there had been sixteen World Records set at the Beijing Water Cube. This was on the fifth day of swimming. At Athens four years ago, there were eight World Records set in the entire swim event, and five of these were in relays.

Rice wins first gold as Australia starts campaign

Glamour girl Stephanie Rice has broken the 400m IM world record to win Australia’s first gold medal. In a fierce contest, Rice shrugged off fears that her performance would suffer after a recent split with former boyfriend, and team-mate, Eamon Sullivan.
