Its not how fast you get somewhere. Only how far counts. I have grown up in a family that has taught me that persistance is the key to getting what you want. Writing on the Roar has enabled me to begin a journey that will hopefully make my obsession for sports writing a profession.

Woke up to myself just over a year ago and realised that I wasn't doing what I love, so started sportswriting. Dedicated over a year of my life and worked 40-50 hours per week for gratis to chase the dream of becoming a paid writer. So far the hard work is beginning to pay off. Writer for www.allblacks.com as well as feature writer for a couple of other independent sites including www.heavensgame.com

I am a sports nut. I played 20 seasons of Rugby and 25 seasons of cricket here, in the UK and Singapore.
In the name of honesty, I will come clean and disarm sledges from my former teammates.
On the rugby field, I was a non tackling, slowish fullback who could catch and kick.
On the cricket field, I was an all rounder: slip fielder, left arm leg spinner who didn't turn the ball and top or middle order batsman.
My playing days are over. I coached 9 seasons of junior cricket and learnt more in those days than as a player. From not winning a game for two seasons to winning an U11 grand final with the almost perfect performance, 5/204 from 50 overs then dismissing the opposition for 66.
I have been lucky enough to have watched live sport at SCG, SFS, ANZ, Lords, The Oval, Twickenham, Murrayfield, Cardiff, Landsdowne Road, Parc De Prince, Aintree (Grand National), Epsom, Royal Ascot, Randwick, Flemington, Stamford Bridge, Sandwich (British Open) Foxboro (NE Patriots) Soldier Field and others.
With three sons, I regularly watch 10 games of rugby each winter weekends.
