Storming to the title

By Zolton / Editor

There’s a long way to go yet, but it looks like the Melbourne Storm will be very difficult to beat for the Rugby League premiership this year. Even with players missing they are a formidable outfit, drilled with relentless precision by coach Craig Bellamy and possessing enough instinct and flair to crack any game wide open. Can anyone seriously challenge them or should we just send the trophy down south already? Let us know your thoughts.

Rugby league, like all other high impact team sports, often comes down to who has the most/least injuries. Have a look through the teams that have won the AFL and NRL in recent years and you will find it is almost inevitably the team that has suffered the fewest injuries to key players. If the Storm manage to keep their players on the park for the vast majority of the season, they will probably feature on grand final day.

oooo I was just about to get Searly myself when I read that Sea Eagels comment. Luckily you redeemed yourself by declaring the Sharks as dark horses. Of course Sharkies all the way! In fact even on the weekend when they really didn't play that well they still managed to put the doggies away (yes I know they were missing key players). The forward pack is very mobile, hard working and finally now experienced enough to maybe keep up in the eight for the rest of season. But ... admittedly, I am talking about my sharks :-{\

Geez, steady on Zolt! The Storm aren't even on top of the table. As it stands, if anyone has the right to lay claim to the title it should be the team currently leading the comp - the mighty Sea Eagles! I'm tipping the Sharks to be the dark horses of the season however. They might not win it, but they're dead set firing at the moment.

Weren't we all thinking the same thing about June/July last year? At the same time people were seriously questioning Wayne Bennett's future as coach of the Broncos. Did you hear them after the Broncos won the premiership? My point? There is a lot of water to flow under the bridge between now and full time on Grand Final day, anything can, and probably will, happen.
