What about Albert Hansen from New Zealand (1968 - 1980) Highest played league player in NZ of his time, he use to come play us here in australia play hard and tough and win then go out with the boys and get into a good old rugby league scrap and always win defeating so called tough guys such as Billy Bush and plenty of others

Not ion the list: Dick Thornett, Kevin Ryan (whom Rex Mossop quoted in the Rugby Union players history as saying , and I paraphrase him "when the Manly forward pack knew he was on, vomited in the change rooms to a man", also Rod Reddy and Terry Randall who I would take over Glenn Lazarus ANYDAY...They are THE two toughest players along with Ray Price that I ever saw, & Geoff Toovey the little battlescared imp. Also dual international Rex Mossop for sheer hardness and fairness. What about JOHN BRASS..??? ..well COME ON! THAT IS WHY THE WHOLE IDEA OF A "100 BEST EVER" ...just Sucks man.Who said you P$$$KS could do that to OUR game?....Get away from the buttons and let the people choose their heroes D***H**DS !

Peter Dimond.....not the prettiest face and probably rarely photographed....however one of the toughest to ever pull a boot on! What happened to Dick Thornett?... now that IS a major oversight!

DT Agree with what you say Cliffy Lyons would fill a ground, Terry Lamb would sink the boot stiff arm players to win ........remember the Balmain grand final ........when Elrery Henery, the black pearl (F******d up spelling his name sorry) taken out in the opening five mins of the game. I agree its hard to work out and if you were picking tough guys what about Tery Randel (not saying he is in the top 100) but he was the toughest player I ever saw

For all the lack of a well recorded history of league the one thing league has had are great players. For whatever reason they have produced backs who at times were togher than forwards. Raudonikas, Lamb, Billy Smith , Brian Clay, Peter Diamond who an aghast Frank Hyde said "he's hit a priest ie Cootes, lewis, Miles, Meninga. Sailor the list goes on. They also at times had a refreshing political incorrectness about them .I will never forget the ground announcer at Lidcombe '"Buddy is unavailable for today's match as he is assisting police with a burglary enquiry" to the roar of the whole crowd,. Not great marketing in today's world but it bought a smile to my face.

How on earth do Terry Lamb or Tommy Raudonikis get a spot over the likes of Ricky Stuart, or Cliff Lyons? Halves should be remarkable for their skill, not their toughness. Wayne Pierce must have gotten in on image rather than ability. Awesome work rate, but no skill or ball carrying ability. I'd rather have Bob Lindner, Steve Menzies or Paul Sironen. No Gordon Tallis? WTF?
