In an interesting round 16 the two top teams, South Dragons and NZ Breakers have both taken multiple losses in their quest for the number one position on the NBL ladder.

The Dragons faced the Crocs up at Townsville Wednesday night and went down by 10 points.

The Crocs are holding strong in the bottom half of the top 6 and have been a worthy opponent to South so a home court win was no surprise.

The Dragons then returned to Hisense to host the Wildcats on Saturday night only to disappoint another strong 4000+ crowd, going down by 9.

The Wildcats are certainly contenders come playoff time so again no surprise really.

The Breakers however would surely be disappointed with their road trip going down to Woolongong Friday night 111-94 and then backing up to the Spirit on Saturday night with a 1 point defeat.

In front of a pitiful crowd at the Whitlam center the Spirit showed they can mix it with the best, stealing the win off a free throw with a second to play keeping their hopes of a playoff spot very much alive.

If nothing else this week has shown that the the top two, despite their dominant performances so far, are anything but a certainty for the final week of playoffs.
