Son of referees' boss biggest sook and worst behaved

By News / Wire

Rugby league’s first match officials poll has installed Brett Finch, son of NRL referees boss Robert Finch, as the NRL’s biggest sook and worst behaved player.

Rugby League Week managed to coax replies from officials who are under instruction to keep their views to themselves.

The magazine’s survey found Scott Prince the best captain to deal with, Steve Price and Matt Orford the worst, and Justin Hodges is the biggest sledger.

Thirty per cent of respondents voted for Melbourne’s Finch in both the biggest sook and worst behaved player categories.

The Storm are also the team that shows the least respect, according to refs, touchies and video refs.

Disturbingly, 80 per cent of those surveyed said they had been personally threatened by fans.

And 80 per cent said the eye in the sky was being used too much although everyone agreed video referees should be retained.

Steve Price the worst captain to deal with? So much for his choir-boy image (which, off the field, does seem to me to be justified). I guess we saw at the end of Origin 3 that he isn't exactly a choir-boy on the field! The moral of that melee surely has to be that he should stick to being a choir boy! Did they even need to hold a poll to determine that Justin Hodges is the biggest sledger?
