Nielsen felt he had broken Langer's trust

By News / Wire

Australian coach Tim Nielsen felt like he had broken Justin Langer’s trust after the former Test opener’s damning dossier on the England cricket side was leaked to the media this month.

Langer sent an email to Nielsen before the start of the Ashes in which he branded England cricketers “lazy”, “shallow” and “flat”.

The document was distributed amongst the team before the series opener in Cardiff last month and subsequently fell into the hands of the media and published on August 8.

Langer was angry that his private thoughts had been made public and an apologetic Nielsen felt he had let Langer down.

“I felt like I had broken his trust with that information getting out and I have spoken to him two or three times since then and made sure we did not talk about cricket or the English cricket team, I must admit,” he said.

“It is no so much the information – every team and every player has dossiers about them and about other players and ideas.”

This reeks of a typically half-baked Australian attempt at psychological warfare. Why can't your chaps just play cricket? There's no need for all this peripheral nonsense. It demeans the game.
