Both Alex Brosque and Simon Colosimo are in the hunt for a spot in the Australian World Cup squad in South Africa.
With Pim Verbeek declaring once again this week that they must be playing club games regularly to feature in the prized squad, it has alerted the state league teams of Victoria and NSW and clubs across Asia of the potential to nab these players on loan deals.
With Sydney FC declaring it won’t release these players in the January transfer window, Sydney Olympic FC could offer the Sydney FC pair the opportunity for a move from mid March to mid May.
Both players would be extremely keen on playing on after the A-League season for a club like Sydney Olympic FC, and Belmore Sports Ground might be buzzing next season with already so much going on down there with the two-time National Soccer League champions looking on building the club back to the top of Australian football.
Adding Simon Colosimo and Alex Brosque to the mix would help make it a bumper season for the mighty blue and white’s.

I guarantee you can not confirm that, Con. They won't be going to Olympic if they get a better offer, and that's what they are waiting on. The Chinese, Korean and Japanese transfer windows are open when the A-League closes, just for the start of their seasons. That's where they'll want to go. Fact is, nothings confirmed yet, because all offers aren't yet on the table. I'd suggest Olympic is a last resort.

It won't help get them to South Africa. Pim won't be impressed by playing in the state league.

Alex, yep, and why not ... they are not going in January so that would be a great move... State league football is better than sitting on the bench somewhere in Asia and not playing... (ask Jade North) They will be training and playing with SO FC right up until the end of May in state league football... This is the only realistic option available to them if they are going to play-out the HAL finals series... Good luck to all parties if it comes off... ~~~~~ KB

They could if they want to keep fit but not make the WC squad. Sydney's policy is fine, because last year we saw several players move into Asia after the close of the A-League season (not during the January transfer window). Matt McKay and Mark Bridge (both on loan) are two examples and Joel Griffiths has done so before. I suggest something similar will be what Brosque and Colosimo are after rather than going to Sydney Olympic which is clearly not an ideal option.

for a coach who once said that training in the bundesliga is better than playing in the a-league, i doubt sydney olympic would be viewed as good enough for a socceroos spot.
