Injuries to test the depth of NRL clubs

By therookie / Roar Pro

Round one of the NRL saw many significant injuries occur. Big named players will be watching from the sideline as the young guns try and make a name for themselves.

Jamie Lyon, Neville Costigan, Kurt Gidley and Michael Jennings are among the players who may miss Round two. Meanwhile, Jason King, Matt Bowen, Paul Aiton and Brett White are some of the six players who will face judicary charges.

The casuality list as it stands, with the Dogs and the Tigers still to play:
Sam Burgess (shoulder)
Alan Tongue (AC joint)
Jamie Lyon (hamstring)
Kurt Gidley (back)
Neville Costigan (arm)
Shane Rodney (shoulder)
Michael Jennings (hamstring)
and many more.

In other NRL news, the Rabbitohs were fined $15,000 for a interchange breach, after they were spotted with fourteen men on the field in their Friday night clash against the Roosters.

I understood that, no worries, just put it up because it's always pretty big news when someone misses a whole season (not sure when that assessment came through formally).

I know he's only a rookie, but you can add Chase Stanley to the list, needs a full knee reconstruction, out for a whole season: http://www.foxsports.com.au/league/nrl-premiership/melbourne-storm-rookie-chase-stanley-requires-a-full-knee-reconstruction-and-will-miss-the-entire-nrl-season/story-fn2mcuj6-1226021765061?from=public_rss
