A $1.253 billion dollar deal, with $1.118 billion in cash + 135m contra advertising.
Three media partners:
Live Friday night football via free to air channels into Vic, NSW, Qld, Tas. Four games in every round live on free to air in NSW and Qld.
Near live Friday night football via free to air channels into SA and a reduced delay into WA on free to air.
Every game, every week live from Fox Sports on Foxtel and Austar and live on IPTV, and on Telstra mobile
Local teams broadcast via Free to Air into local markets every week of the season in: SA, WA, QLD and NSW
As a standard, the Seven Network will broadcast four matches per round nationally in all states and territories while FOX Sports on the Foxtel and Austar networks will broadcast all matches live on subscription television and IP television.
Telstra will broadcast one match live on its IP television platform and all nine matches live on mobile.
A Standard round will look as follows:
Match 1: Friday night 7.50pm EST bounce, 8.40pm EST bounce when played in WA or SA
Match 2: Saturday afternoon, 1.45pm EST bounce
Match 3: Saturday afternoon, 2.10pm EST bounce
Match 4: Saturday twilight, 4.10pm –5.40pm EST bounce
Match 5: Saturday night, 7.10pm –7.40pm EST bounce
Match 6: Saturday night, 7.10pm –7.40pm EST bounce
Match 7: Sunday early, 1.10pm EST bounce
Match 8: Sunday afternoon, 3.15pm EST bounce
Match 9: Sunday twilight, 4.40pm EST bounce
The Premiership Season schedule shall consist of at least 22 rounds of 9 Matches, played over (at least) 22 weeks.

The AFL could have easily blown it by cutting back their free-to-air TV coverage in the northern states. In 5 years time 70% of the population would have forgotten about AFL. Or more correctly 70% of the number who currently know anything about AFL, which is probably about 50%. Even less in the outer west. But planting a team there isn't going to help the situation. They didn't do their research. They don't understand the local culture. The team will die a miserable death within 10 years. I went to high school in Seven Hills and it didn't take long to realise that RL and RU are a permanent part of the landscape. The AFL would be better off trying to sell fridges to Eskimos. The AFL commission obviously chose Sydney's outer west during a game of "pin the tail on the donkey" over a few beers at AFL House. If the AFL are going to create an unprofitable club it would be better to do so in the Northern Territory or Tasmania. At least that would add *some* credibility to their claim of being a national game. For all intents and purposes it is still a "southern game" - a term used commonly and disparagingly by the folks of NSW and Qld. Setting up in Darwin would help to alleviate that issue. Like it or not, the primitive human brain associates "north" with being higher/powerful/dominant and so on. Being "south" is a position of weakness. The AFL should have aimed at getting "north" of the Rugby League strongholds as a psychological strategy. If I shouted the message to them from the roof of AFL House they would call the security guards and then resume sipping their beers.

Oh..hi Titus - please don't try your spin - 1.25 BILLION $$$$$ is 1.25 BILLION $$$$$ no matter how you look at it I live in Sydney and from next year I will get 4 games live EVERY weekend - including ALL the Swans AND all the GWS games (no FOXTEL - although I might want to watch EVERY AFL game with no ads so I might subscribe to FOX) If only Andy D was looking after the "world game" - we would have won the World Cup!!

i already have fox and i don't watch the afl at all i watch nrl and rugby if rl is ripped of again in the next tv rights i will get rid of fox.

banaba while it is tempting to remind dozens of posters on the Roar of some of the very silly things they have predicted in relation to the Australian game over the past couple of years, we must resist the temptation to gloat. Let us see this as a victory for all sports fans. We can all gain from this. However, please allow me this one indulgence, and yes, the worst offender over the years has indeed been fossy, who this time last year loudly proclaimed Australian Football: an "inconsequential" sport, and who has single handedly led a small minority astray in making them believe that the impossible was within reach, and the miraculous not too far beyond that. For my part, I have worked assiduously in the past month to educate our Northern cousins about the Australian game, its major strengths, its sheer size in this country, and hopefully, in doing so, I have overturned at least a few misconceptions, as are to be found with an increasing regularity on this site.

With the new 1.118 billion deal this is fantastic for AFL all live games will be shown.
