Fox Sports should air more old rugby Tests

Last Friday, Fox Sports aired extensive highlights of two famous Test matches played between the Wallabies and All Blacks.

The two Test matches were the second and third Tests from the 1986 Bledisloe Cup series.

Airing those two Tests was a wonderful way to increase excitement the first Bledisloe Cup Test for 2011, where so much hype surrounded whether the Wallabies could beat the All Blacks at Eden Park for the first time since 1986.

I’d like to see Fox Sports air more famous Test matches from past years in the future.

They undoubtedly have a tremendous library full of famous Test matches.

I fear that vintage rugby Tests don’t attract enough viewers. A while ago Fox Sports offered viewers a chance to watch six famous sporting events by the viewers’ choice option.

Two rugby union Tests were on offer: John Eales’ last Test and the second Lions Test of 2001.

Neither were aired because they didn’t attract enough votes.

However, I can’t think of a better way to hype the Springboks Test this weekend than showing the three Tests from 1993.

And is there a better way to hype the next Bledisloe Cup Test than by airing the first two Tests from the 1992 Bledisloe Cup?

Let’s petition Fox Sports that they continue to air famous Wallabies’ Test matches.
