Football Federation Australia has issued outspoken Gold Coast coach Miron Bleiberg and Adelaide United defender Antony Golec with please explain letters following an extraordinary A-League weekend.

Bleiberg’s chances of bringing up his 100th game as coach in the national competition now rest with an independent judiciary committee.

Bleiberg and Golec, who has apologised for his homophobic slur against referee Ben Williams on Twitter after the Brisbane-Melbourne Victory clash on Saturday night, could be fined or suspended by the FFA.

“The please explain letters were issued today (Tuesday),” said an A-League official.

“Both have until the close of business on Thursday to respond to the FFA in regard to questions they’ve been asked.”

Bleiberg and Golec will not know their fate until the day of their A-League clash at Hindmarsh Stadium on Friday night.

Bleiberg is the only coach still going around since the competition kicked off in 2005.

Golec, 21, has apologised for his “foolish” Twitter posts about Williams, who came in for heavy criticism after issuing red cards to Melbourne players Ante Covic and Matthew Foschini in the first half of the 2-all draw.

Golec has written a letter of apology to Williams.

An embarrassed Adelaide have warned the young defender his contract will be ripped up if he transgresses again.

Bleiberg also apologised for his post-game outburst when he inferred Sydney FC were so important to the A-League they received favourable treatment from match officials.

The Gold Coast coach, one of the controversial characters in the A-League, said his comments were made in the heat of the moment.
