Great white hope Griffin knocking down racial stereotypes

By Reece Jordan / Roar Pro

Ask any real NBA fan to name great Caucasian players and they’ll rattle of names that start with Larry Bird, finish with Steve Nash and hit John Stockton and Dirk Nowitzki in between.

The Roar, after discussion with the author, has removed this article due to erroneous facts and some errors in judgement made in good faith.

Upon considering your comment, I regrettably have to agree with most of your critique. I've contacted The Roar requesting the article to be removed. Unfortunately, I hadn't really researched my arguments well enough, and in retrospect this article shouldn't have been submitted at all in the first place. I apologise for the article, and I endeavour to learn from my errors here to produce a much higher quality of writing in the future. I appreciate your honesty, and hopefully you will find more merit in my other writings. Thanks.

Um... fact: Blake Griffin isn't white. He isn't thought to be by himself or any commonly accepted criteria. I understand that the author is young, however I think this article really needs to be edited or taken down. It's wrong to classify people based solely on the shade of their skin. I'm sure if there were more white players as good as nash and dirk than there would be more playing in the nba. Fact is there isn't. And as for bias... if anything there's a media bias the other way. IMO if a caucasian is as good as an african american then the media and society generally gives the white player more attention.

White or black... He's still won't have as good a career as Kevin Love!

I do understand Blake is mixed race and refers to himself as an African-American, but there is very large demographic that (wrongly) is still inflicting a bias based on skin colour. Griffin definitely is on the whiter side if you're going purely on skin tone.

Blake Griffin refers to himself as an African American. His dad is African-American and his mum is Caucasian.
