Newcastle Jets vs Adelaide United: A-League live scores

By The Roar / Editor

Both Newcastle Jets and Adelaide United will be desperate to keep pace with the top six when they meet at Hunter Stadium tonight. We’ll have live scores from the kick-off at 8.00pm AEDT.

How much do you want it?

That will be the question that coaches Gary van Egmond and John Kosmina will be asking their respective sides this evening. Both sides are within touching distance of a finals spot but simply must start stringing wins together if they are to feature in late March.

Newcastle appeared to have turned the corner after three successive wins catapulted them to fifth spot but an abject 2-0 loss at Perth last Saturday night reminded the Jets they still have a way to go to be a finals outfit.

They seemed to miss influential skipper Jobe Wheelhouse last week although they’ll be boosted by the return of young midfielder Ben Kantarovski, who returns from Olyroos duty.

While the Jets still sit well-placed for a top-six berth the situation is far more desperate for tonight’s opponents Adelaide.

They’ve managed one win in their past seven outings, and that was against last-placed Gold Coast United.

John Kosmina’s side sit seven points outside the top six and with only four matches remaining after tonight, anything less than three points here would all but signal the end of the road for this season.

Yet they have the players to do it and with no significant changes to the side that has lined up in recent weeks, are more than capable of pulling an upset here and keeping their flickering finals flame burning.

Are the Jets really contenders, or can the Reds upset the apple cart with a rare away victory? We’ll have live scores from 8.00pm AEDT and if you’re watching, don’t hesitate to leave your comments in the space below.
