Is Tim Tebow time over at Denver Broncos?

By hackett98 / Roar Rookie

With the acquisition of Peyton Manning, the Denver Broncos have ended the short but successful run of Tim Tebow as the Denver starting quarterback.

After leading the Broncos to the play-offs, Tebow is now looking for a new home, but the short-term prospects are not promising for Tebowmania.

At the conclusion of the Manning circus a number of teams are now left without a quality starting quarterback. The problem is none of these sides are a good fit for Tebow.

San Francisco has burnt Alex Smith badly and stand a chance of losing him to the Miami Dolphins. However, Tebow offers no value to the 49ers.

Whichever team picks up Tebow, if they intend to start him, will have to revamp their offensive system similar to what the Broncos did in 2011.

The 49ers side, who were just one game away from the Superbowl, have no motivation to do so.

The Miami Dolphins are desperate to sign a big-name quarterback but Tebow simply does not fit their system.

The Dolphins, which struggle for fan-support in the stacked Miami sporting market, may see this as an opportunity to sell more season tickets but on the Gridiron the move would likely be a disaster.

On the football side of things the Jacksonville Jaguars appear to be the best option with the team looking to repair their passing game about Blaine Gabbert’s awful rookie season.

Tebow would likely relish working with an elite running back like Maurice Jones-Drew.

But the Jaguars front office surprisingly wants nothing to do with Tebow, signing the extremely-average Chad Henne for the 2012 season.

Although Tebow would surely not want to play back-up again he may not have a choice. As a back-up the most likely move is to the Buffalo Bills.

Tebow could serve as a wildcat option next to current Bills quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick and may be the x-factor the Bills need to end their 12-year playoffs drought – the longest in the NFL.

A Tebow move to Bill Belichick’s New England Patriots has been touted but seems unlikely considering the depth the Patriots have at the quarterback position.

Sadly, it appears that Tebow time may be over for now.

It's probably a little much to suggest "he never asked for all the hype that got created". We are talking about someone who has very willingly marketed himself time and time again over the past 4 years. All those sideline prayers and emotional speeches weren't caught on camera by accident. He hasn't been shy in tying his religion into his career, and the phenomenon of Tebow was at least 40% religion (much like linsanity). There is a chance that he helps with the Jets' locker room tensions, although this will mean that Sanchez will be under the pump before training camp even starts. Ultimately, being a freakishly violent player for his position, he's not a bad fit for the Jets, and they're a team that has gotten good production from some limited players.

Well he is off to the New York Jets and to be honest I feel sorry for him. He never asked for all the hype that got created, he seems like a decent young guy. And after all the money he made for the Denver Broncos they have sent him to the one place he probably didn't want to go. He goes to a New York Jets full of misfits and wanna be's who think their poop doesn't smell.

BA Green Bay won't have to trade for him, Tebow will be released eventually because the Bronco's won't want the circus associated with keeping Tebow. Then someone can pick him up off waivers and it doesn't cost them anything.

What about Green Bay... Thats interesting to me. They have lost a backup QB They have 2xpretty average running backs They have an abundance of WR's which the Broncos now need.

I still think the Pats talk is very hard to take seriously (and this is coming from a Pats fan). The team's already got three QB's on its roster, and it's hard to see them parting with any of them (although they could perhaps trade Mallett for Tebow). The team has a lot of needs, and Tebow doesn't really fit any of them: the only place that Tim really is useful is in a goal line scenario, and it's not like the Pats struggled for red zone offensive production this year. It's fun to speculate what it'd be like to see Darth Bill drawing up plays for Tebow, but the reality is the Pats offense has actually avoided much gadgetry in recent history, and it's hard to see them assuming Tebowmania at this point. Like I said already, the Jags are the team who should be the most motivated to make a move at this point.

Yeah, thats his best fit. Such a position really needs a new name - I suggest "five-eighth" or ""three-quarter" ;)

I heard some speculation the pats could use him as a running back who occasionally passes, In effect the logical progression from what he did at Denver -- Comment left via The Roar's iPhone app. Download The Roar's iPhone App in the App Store here.

I think it's a little soon to be drawing a line through Tebow Time. The Jaguars should still be interested, as Tebow is arguably their best shot at avoiding having their franchise moved. Chad Henne is insurance, nothing more, he's never had a complete season where he's thrown more touchdowns than interceptions! The Dolphins, also based in Florida would be another logical suggestion, even after they've signed David Garrard. The Bills would also probably be an outside shot as they've given so much money to Pickspatrick at this point it's hard to see them wanting to even consider a celebrity backup. Tim Tebow had the best selling jersey in the NFL last year, and would be the be biggest drawcard on whichever team signed him, it's hard to see 32 teams passing up on the opportunity.
