West Indies vs Australia 3rd Test, Day 1: Live scores, commentary

By Suneer Chowdhary / Roar Guru

The third and the final Test match of Australia’s tour of West Indies will begin from Monday and we’ll bring you the live scores and commentary of the action starting at 1.00am AEST on Tuesday.

After the ODIs and the T20Is were shared, West Indies will hope to comeback from behind and win this game, having lost the first Test of the series.

The second game looked like it would have an exciting finish as well, but bad weather spoiled the fun for the fans.

The Tests have so far been played on pitches which have made batting very difficult for either side. Run-rates have rarely touched three per over and the sluggish nature of the tracks has made the batsmen wary of driving through the line.

West Indies’ Kemar Roach has taken advantage of the tracks well and sits atop of the wickets’ pile with 15 in the series.

The next best is Ben Hilfenhaus, with eight wickets four the tourists.

To add to this, Australia will miss both Peter Siddle and James Pattinson to fitness issues and meaning Ryan Harris will join Hilfenhaus in the line-up. One of either Michael Beer or Mitchell Starc will play.

West Indies may have to make a bowling change too, with Fidel Edwards’ back playing up in the second Test. Ravi Rampul could come into the XI to partner Roach, although new-comer and all-rounder Assad Fudadin could get a look-in too.

Australia’s openers haven’t got too many partnerships going for them so far but the management could still continue with Dave Warner and Ed Cowan at the top and Shane Watson at three.

Ricky Ponting’s averages have dipped in this series but he continues to enjoy his captain’s support. Michael Hussey and Michael Clarke will look to add solidity to the middle-order while Matthew Wade takes his position behind the stumps despite his skipper’s assertion that Brad Haddin was still their number one keeper.

West Indies will want Shivnarine Chanderpaul to continue scoring but Darren Bravo aside, none of the others have got too many. They will want to remedy that quickly.

We will bring you the coverage throughout this third Test match of the series between West Indies and Australia from Barbados and hope to receive your opinions as the action unfolds from 1.00pm AEST.

So that is that then, Australia have finished at 7/212 after a 43-run stand helps them overcome a bit of their issues. Shillingford has been the obvious star of the innings for the West Indies with a four-wicket haul I will be back tomorrow with the second day's play from Dominica between West Indies and Australia.

SIX! Whatashot! Pitched on length, and probably turning away, loft him over the long-on fence for a six! Starc has grown in confidence...

Quicker one, goes straight on and hits the pads, appeal but turned down. No review taken. Shillingford is desperate for his fifth...

End of the 89th over with a loud appeal for a caught-behind, but the umpire is having none of it.

Four! Short and pulled away to the fence to the right of the deep square fielder. Excellent shot in the penultimate over the day.

Ravi Rampaul has replaced Roach but Shillingford continues. 12 for Wade from 48 balls and he continues to try and feel the bonce and spin from Shillingford. 18-run stand already 7/187

Four! Another boundary, some sort of resistance here from Wade, who flicks it away fine down the leg-side. That is his second boundary and the Aussies have moved on to 7/183 in 79 overs. Will they take the new ball?

Four! Finally a four, god only knows after how much time. It was a Doosra, did not turn and went straight on with the arm. Wade went for the sweep and that is crashed through deep square-leg for a four!

OUT And Harris' cameo of four has ended with a pull shot that takes the gloves and goes high to the wicket-keeper, Baugh jumps his to his left and plucks it away! Roach gets his first... Seven wickets down, and they have not even got to 170.

Missed! And again! This time it goes off the inside edge and brushes the leg-stump and the bail does not fall! Wade's living a charmed life here!

Missed! That was a poorly judged single, Harris dabbed and went away and there was no chance that Wade could have got to his crease if the ball had hit. Misses and the batsman survives. 6/166. Not the kind of dismissal you want with the pitch behaving the way it is.

Ryan Harris is at number eight. Kemar Roach has come in now.

OUT! Another one bites the dust to the extra bounce, this was very similar to the Ponting dismissal. Went very low to defend on the front-foot, hits his gloves and spoons up to the left of slip. Sammy dives and holds it, six down! Hussey was wringing his hands in pain after the ball hit his gloves!

IPL fans would be stifling yawns watching this Test match. Not quite their definition of run-rates, but for those watching, this is some excellent bowling. On a difficult pitch!

A single off the first ball, and then Wade fails to get the short ball away, before getting a single off the last ball of the over. 5/163 in 71.
