Western Bulldogs vs Brisbane Lions: AFL live scores

By The Roar / Editor

Two sides with just nine wins between them meet as the Western Bulldogs face the Brisbane Lions. We’ll have live scores from 1.40pm AEST.

Two spots and one win separate these teams on the ladder, and their up and down form means both teams will be hungry for the four points.

The Bulldogs last week accounted for similar side in Port Adelaide, getting over the line by 38 points in what was a fitting tribute to the late Charlie Sutton.

Matthew Boyd was the star in the midfield with 22 first-half touches, while the dangerous youngster Tory Dickson nabbed four goals.

Inaccuracy was one issue to come out of the game, however, with the final scoreboard reading 13.17.

The Lions, meanwhile, had a day to forget against Hawthorn, going down by 65 points.

A quarter-time lead, and only a minor half-time deficit, quickly evaporated in the second half. It was a disappointing way to back up a shock win over West Coast two weeks earlier.

The big positive to come out of the match was the superb performance of fifth-gamer Dayne Zorko, who had 24 touches, nine marks and laid seven tackles. And that was to go with his three goals.

The Dogs will go into this clash favourites, but if the Lions can replicate their early form against the Hawks and their full performance against the Eagles, they’ll fancy their chances of an upset.

Simon Black returns for the Lions along with Ash McGrath. New player Tom Campbell replaces Will Minson in the Bulldogs line-up.

Good work Lions. Glad to see a win at Etihad Stadium.. I note that in the Age all of the AFL Pundits picked the Dogs to win. What an upset for all those people who bet on the weekly performance of AFL Teams - the Lions have delivered another upset over and against the experts who are Melbourne Centric in their thinking.
