The dream of any professional boxer is to get the chance to fight the best in the States backed by a huge company.
IBF Featherweight champion Billy Dib has previously had the chance when he was signed with Golden Boy Promotions, but it wasn’t a successful US debut for the Australian, losing to Steven Luevano and subsequently being dropped from the company.
The 26 year-old world champion has another chance to crack the big time.
Dib announced over the weekend that he has joined ‘The Money Team’, which is a new promotion company headed by rapper 50 Cent and the world’s best boxer, Floyd Mayweather Jnr.
The goal of this company is to set a new precedence for boxing worldwide and follow the lead of the UFC by having four main event quality fights on a card, according to a report in The Daily Telegraph.
“50 Cent has basically flown us over here, and he showed us a lot of love,” Dib told RingTV.
“I like the sound of the company. I like the people that he has signed to the company. I’m really excited about the future and what the future holds for me in boxing with this company.”
Dib has joined the growing stable of fighters that include Andre Dirrell, Yuriorkis Gamboa and, of course, Floyd ‘Money’ Mayweather.
“Billy just wanted to be associated with true talent and to have an actual company to start off with and to be represented so he can get fighters who don’t actually duck him,” said 50 Cent.
“It’s about actually having a platform where you can actually reach the masses and have them identify with his talents, and that’s what we’re planning to do.”
What all this means is yet to be known fully, but it is understood that the financial benefits for Dib and his team are set to be huge.
Dib is currently working on his next fight with TMT Promotions as well as with his Australian management team.

You suggested they were past it as of their age, not by today's standards. Not as fast as they once were, maybe, does not mean they should just give up and give in to younger fighters or because some fans think they are old, boring. Age is obviously just a number to these guys as well as Mundine and Green, perhaps your beef should be with the media for giving them exposure, just remember they are multiple world champions in multiple divisions, maybe they've earnt it? Tomlinson and Fleming are good prospects. Congrats to Billy again, looks like the big fights will be easier to come by.

Are you suggesting 'Australia's favourite media boxers' are in the same class as those you have mentioned TGGOA? In saying that JMM and Morales are well past their best, as is Hopkins whilst Martinez is in for a hurry up from Chavez junior, so what point are you trying to make? That the US media should continually focus on 'old favourites' that are purely fighting for ego? How you mentioned those fighters in the same mould as Green and Mundine is beyond belief.

'Showed us alot of love'.......................ok. Bigger things on the horizen for Dib. Would like to see him and Paul Fleming (or Will Tomlinson) fight eventually which would be an actual world title between two Australian boxers instead of the local media constantly having their love affair with two blokes in their late 30's that are well past it.
