Dagg says Beale will bounce back

All Blacks fullback Israel Dagg can understand what Kurtley Beale is going through and is sure the demoted Wallaby will come out firing when he gets his chance.

After his self-confessed worst match of his career, Beale has been dropped to the reserves for the second Bledisloe Cup rugby Test in Auckland on Saturday night, with Adam Ashley-Cooper taking over at fullback.

“I know how he feels,” Dagg said.

“I’ve had a few shockers – not saying he had a shocker – but it’s just part of rugby, it’s what happens.

“That’s the way sport goes. You can have great weeks and you can have bad weeks.”

Dagg has little doubt that Beale will bounce back quickly from his ordeal in the Wallabies’ 27-19 defeat to the All Blacks in Sydney.

“I know he’s going to come out firing,” he said.

“He’s a quality player. I’ve got a lot of respect for him and he’s going to (be) making amends for that.”

It was Dagg who helped to heap some of the misery on Beale last weekend, beating his opposite number on the outside on the way to scoring New Zealand’s opening try.

That was one of the few highlights in a stop-start match that failed to reach great heights and the All Blacks are determined to lift their performance at Eden Park.

Coach Steve Hansen has kept faith with his match-day squad, making just one forced change, with Wyatt Crockett coming in at loosehead prop for the injured Tony Woodcock.

“We obviously made a few too many errors,” Dagg said.

“We had a good lead in the first half and kind of let them back in the game.

“The team gets another opportunity to work on that and that’s what we’ll be doing.”

I think what would motivate Mr Beale more would be if the ARU cheques he tries to cash start "bouncing back " :-)

Beale needs to bounce back from the refrigerator door first. When he's lost that gut he'll be a world class player again. Really hope it happens soon. Test of discipline for him I guess. If he plays much longer in this shape then he'll get injured, and that will make things worse. I do hope Beale follows the example of Israel Dagg who is maximising his extravagant talents at the moment. Clearly the best fullback in the world.

Hindsight is a wonderful thing: the game having run it's course. I can now comment that Beale had little impact, again. Is it his fault or the coache's or the inside backs'? Take Zac Guidford, for example. If the action doesnt come to him, he goeth to the action.

Beal is just a yabba mouth! he should leave his twinkle toes at home and concentrate on tackling first.

Why Deans would have any Waratahs in the side is beyond belief. Reds and Brumbies with a smattering of the other franchises. Sharpe as usual had a strong match. And why we bother with NH referees is also puzzling. The Jock was very poor tonight.

Beale screwed up again!!!!!! You made the call before the match and you got it wrong. Beale lost Australia the match within 5 mins of being on the park.

I think it's a big mistake by the wallabies to drop Beale, he offers so much in attack. He had a bad game last week no doubt, however to put things in perspective the wallabies missed 21 tackles and Beale missed two of those. Sure the cover Defenes didn't stop the ABs from scoring like they did when his mates missed there tackles but I can't see how that is a factor when judging Beales individual performance. IIMO - 13. AAC 14 Mitchell 15 Beale
