Geelong vs Western Bulldogs: AFL live scores

By The Roar / Editor

Geelong will look to build on their winning form heading into September as the Western Bulldogs pay them a visit. We’ll have live scores from 1.10pm AEST.

While the Bulldogs’ season is long gone, the Cats have just won four out of a tough five-game stretch.

It almost certainly won’t be enough to land them a top four berth however, meaning they will have to do things the hard way. Going into finals with momentum will be key.

The Dogs’ recent record, in comparison, is far from inspiring. Even close losses have proved hard to come by.

Making matters worse: Their recent record against Geelong leaves much to be desired.

Last week, the Cats beat St Kilda by 42 points, ending any chance the Saints had of making the finals.

Tom Hawkins exploded for six goals, while James Kelly had 29 disposals, five clearances and 11 tackles. Mitch Duncan was another key contributor.

It was a weekend to forget for the Dogs, with an 82-point loss to Sydney.

Ryan Griffen had a truly remarkable 47 disposals, while Matthew Boyd had a casual 35 of his own. Clay Smith had a solid game and Dylan Addison had four goals.

The Dogs were just the fourth team this year to score 85 points in a game against the Swans, so while it was a disastrous afternoon defensively, you could argue they were effective in attack.

Travis Varcoe finally makes his return for Geelong, while Joel Selwood is an out. The Dogs have omitted Ayce Cordy (back) and Fletcher Roberts.
