Habana out for up to 10 weeks

Stormers and South African star winger Bryan Habana will miss up to 10 weeks of Super Rugby after tearing knee ligaments.

Habana, who moves to French Top 14 club Toulon at the end of the Super Rugby season, left the field after 55 minutes of the narrow victory over title-holders the Chiefs on Saturday.

Stormers coach Allister Coetzee confirmed the bad news in Cape Town on Sunday.

“Bryan has done his medial collateral ligament and, conservatively, he could be out for 10 weeks,” he said.

“He could be back after seven weeks, but I would say 10 weeks.”

The southern hemisphere provincial championship season runs from February to August with a three-week break during June for Tests with Habana the first choice Springboks winger.

Nothing wrong with VD Heever's pace or power. Only second to Spies in the pussy stakes though...

Yes it was the left knee now its the right knee, hopefully we'll see a bit of him in the climax of the competition,Coetzee hopes 7 weeks but the norm is 10 weeks for such an injury,I'm sure he'll be back b4 Schalk lol :-)

Yeah, that is pretty much Habana done. I would suggest Allistair Coetzee looking for other options. Was Habana not out of the November ours as well?

Thats bad news for us 'Stormers',I doupt Van De Heever has enough pace & strength to replace Habana at 11,Jaco Taute should be an able replacement, certainly matches Bryan with power,Habana really in truth is just too smart & great to be replaced by any
