FC Barcelona vs PSG: UEFA Champions League live scores, blog

By Alan / Roar Guru

Having secured a score draw at home with a last minute equaliser, Paris St-Germain needs to produce something special at the Nou Camp to knock FC Barcelona out of the UEFA Champions League. Join us for live scores and commentary from 4.45am AEST.

Barcelona were on the verge of taking complete control of the tie against PSG after Xavi scored a late penalty to give his side the lead in the first leg.

A very late equaliser from Blaise Matuidi however allowed PSG to rescue a 2-2 draw in a game where they had numerous chances to score.

In the end, the 2-2 draw leaves Barcelona in a better position heading into tonight’s second leg but PSG are certainly not out of the tie.

Barcelona’s play in defence has left a lot to be desired over the past couple of Champions League games and PSG are certainly capable of scoring at the Nou Camp.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Ezequiel Lavezzi, Lucas Moura and Javier Pastore are all very dangerous players and should be heavily involved tonight for PSG, given that the French club must score tonight.

It will be interesting to see how Barcelona plays tonight, given that a 0-0 or 1-1 draw will be enough for them to progress to the semi-finals for the sixth year running.

With PSG needing a win or a high scoring draw to progress, the Ligue 1 giants will have to commit numbers forward to score goals.

While PSG can certainly score tonight, Barcelona invariably score themselves at home and will most likely tear their opponents apart on the counter attack.

PSG’s chances of qualification may very well hinge on whether or not Messi is fit to play tonight.

All indications suggest that Messi will play for Barcelona after suffering a hamstring injury in the first leg.

If the Argentine does play, Barcelona will simply possess too much firepower for PSG to handle, particularly if the French outfit commit numbers forward in search of a much needed goal.

If Mess however is not deemed fit, PSG will certainly fancy their chances of keeping out a Barcelona side whose attack is simply not as dangerous without the four time Ballon d’ or winner.

With PSG needing to attack tonight, this second leg promises to be a very entertaining quarter-final.

While PSG should certainly give Barcelona some anxious moments, the La Liga giants at home rarely disappoint and should progress courtesy of another attacking masterclass from Messi and company.

Barcelona to win 3-1.

Barca were lucky and PSG very brave and unluckily eliminated without having been beaten. Messi made the difference when he came on, but PSG should have been 2 up by then. Will look forward to the semi final draw tomorrow night, but Barca don't look as good as last year and Real look vulnerable too. Might be an all German final if the semi draw splits them.

Barcelona were on the verge of elimination tonight after Pastore opened the scoring for PSG in the second half and deservedly so. Barca were very blunt without Messi in attack and it showed big time. Messi eventually had to come on and he sparked Barcelona to life , playing a big role in Pedro's goal thanks to a good run before finding Villa who then found Pedro who finished truly with his left foot. The game got scrappy in the end as chances became scarce. Barca will certainly need a fit Messi to win the Champions League. PSG have a side to win this competition next year that's for sure. Thanks for joining us tonight and join us next time on The Roar! Barcelona 1 PSG 1
